Z-Power motors are the best for the price. They are available under several names. The stock E260 motor, Z50A-800 or Century motor with 800 Kv are all made by Z-Power.

Most use the Castle Creations HV85 and a Kool Flight Systems Ultimate BEC. Kontronik Jazz ESC’s are good if you can find one at a reasonable price.

The stock E260 ESC is suppose to be good but I have not personally tried one. The TT motor/ESC combo works well.

If you want a little better efficient at a much higher price Neu Motors are the way to go. They are the premium motors but are in short supply due to Neu Motors changing their US distributor.

If you are just doing sport flying and no hard 3D then use a 9t pinion and set the governor for a headspeed in the 1900-1950 range. More headspeed (2100) will give you better 3D but really drains the battery much faster.

If you run much slower than 1900 you will have to change out the red dampers for the blue dampers to keep it from wobbling. The red dampers are good for high headspeed 3D but not low headspeed hovering. There are other aftermarket dampers that also work well if you don’t like the stock setup.

Ben,

Thanks for the info, I've looked at the NEU but there is no uk distributor plus over hear they don't seem to have the greatest reputation. The CC HV85 seems to have had a few issues also so I’m leaning towards a jazz but the jury is still out on the motor.

Sounds like a Z50 is your best motor choice. You should be able to get them from Century at a good price.

I had a Jazz in my E620 but burned it out. If you are just sport flying it is probably the best choice. The HV85 seams to hold up better if you really push it hard.

In my E620, I'm running the Z50-800kv from Century w/ the Phoenix HV85 esc. on 10s Lipos...really easy to set up and seems to work flawlessly. 12s 123's should be the same setup.
Bob (Finless) has some great videos showing how to set this all up with the Castle link...saves a lot of time and easy to follow.
