FiveOboy said,
Is a bi-flyer(planks and helis), I find planks fun to fly but boring to watch. I find helis fun to fly AND fun to watch.
I thought a "Bi-flyer" was something completely different

I have to agree with what most have said already, either can be pretty boring unless the person behind the sticks knows what they are doing. I still fly planks more then I fly heli's, mainly because I am pretty good at flying planks (generally known as the best at our field) and the planks are just cheaper as I am not happy just hovering and thus I stuff it every now and then. The airplanes are A LOT cheaper to stuff...period.

Also I do not have to think about flying planks much any more, sure if I am doing a rolling harrier a few feet off of the ground (read zero room for a mistake) I still pay attention, but I just fly. Most of the time I could not even tell you if I moved the ailerons left or right, if I applied positive elevator or negative, or in which direction I had to move the rudder when doing a rolling harrier. I just do it.

Unfortunatly I am far from that point with the helis....thus I stuff em! But much to the detriment of my bank account I am working on it!

It really depends on the pilot for me. Heli's can be boring to watch. Planes can be boring to watch. But get a pilot that is willing to push the airframe and his skill level right to the edge and it gets exciting. I can appreciate precision flying as well, but enjoy freestyle much more.

To watch a truly skilled pilot huck a 40+% plane around inches from the deck like you or I would a foamie makes me smile. Trying to do the same... is anything but boring. There is enough adrenalin and pucker factor to easily top most heli activity. No margin for error, and much higher costs on a mistake. Jets, racing, and combat are a hoot as well. But throw a trainer or sport plane in a circuit and I doze instantly.

I also love taking the planks up in between heli flights. I find it very relaxing, and it gives me a great connection point for any guys that might be a little scared of heli's.

I'm with dick smith and DougsRC, I will always look up and see whats flying overhead, full scale or RC. I also love watching a V formation of birds flying overhead or an eagle soaring - flight of any kind just does it for me - 50 years and loving it more each day!!

I enjoy both planks and helis, started flying helis first so my true enjoyment is with them. Planks and helis are boring when flown in circles, just no real point. to fly or watch a 3d or aerobatic routine with either is exciting. But what I really find boring, tedious, and just a PITA is building planes. It just SUXS!

Who raised the ground since I took off?

filtvet, The current style is pretty manic for sure, although I do admire the skill level. One of my favorite videos of all time is Martin Duzi flying the Hornet 2. One of the smoothest pilots I have ever seen. I can't find the video on YouTube anymore

ohhhhh that boat is the best looking thing since sliced bread!
If I have had a stressfull day flying I go to the park pond and sail the sub. Nowhere as fast as the boat of course but it's very relaxing............untill you loose the little bastard and have to go out waist deep in slime and sludge to retrive it

I find having planes at the field very relaxing and fun to watch may it just be flying circuts or full out hotdoging
Good conversation between the two intrests aswell.
