The 700 has basically a metal predator head, which can do outrageous pitch ranges, almost totally programmable. I can get crazy pitch ranges from my pred 90 head, anything from +/- 14, and about 8.3 cyclic...more than needed for a 90.

Replace "high end quality" with "money" and then you'd be right.

I hear you and I think its true to a point.
BUT if this was a dog Alan and Jason would be killing there finacial R/C carreers backing the Align company.
Design and quality is two different thing.

As long as Align got the design right, Alan and Jason can still build a heli that'll kick ass. That has nothing to do with quality.

High quality means out of 100 units of the same part, all of it are of the same quality. While in Align's case, I think many have found that their quality isn't very consistent, thus not "high" quality. That doesn't mean you can't find a good parts by buying replacement parts(hoping its better quality).

Willie, thanks for the PM, but no you did not upset me, let me say I am old enough and I have been in the hobby long enough to know when it comes to competitions it's not the heli that wins, yes good luck or bad luck may play into it or a given pilot may just happen to be hot that day, after all didn't a 17 y.o. beat CY in the F3C world championship just last year..

Most times it's not actualy the head. A decent swashplate and/or mixers will do the trick. Having a few holes in the flybar carrier or mixers helps for de-tuning. Likely the 700 will have a 12mm mast along with other key stress areas addressed with material bulk. I know one thing it won't have and that's a crown gear tail drive off the mast. Rest assured as bad as it may or may not be for manufacturing quality when it hits the market the actual system design will advance on what's already around today. I don't expect they'll cheap out and half hazardly modify a bunch of old parts to fit from a previous helicopter.
