hi I just mount It 15min ago It is some nice upgreat for R90 thats for sure

BTW:I couldnt install the plastic sleeve in carbon fiber boom so I did not instal It ... no problem at all

yeah, carbon boom you need to leave out the plastic sleeve. They look great guys!

anyone had any problems out of this tail unit? im planning on buying one this week and im just wondering what to expect.

i bet its a trip looking at the back of the heli while flying and seeing the gears turning. this is really a sweet looking part. i want it for the looks pretty much. i make sure to secure that pin but that new tail looks awesome. couldnt have been designed any better.

When I first saw these on Heliproz, I thought they were nice, but is it really worth a hundred bucks? I ordered one anyway, and you know what? It's worth every cent! The machine work & design are a work of art. Everything fits together perfectly. It's not often I buy something that turns out to be better than I dreamed it would be. SWEEEET!

i bought the tail case. also got the quick uk tail rotor grips. the tail unit looks awesome. had no troubles installing it. havent flown with it yet but looks very promising.

Guys I do not want to spoil the party. But I crashed my Raptor with the new and improved open tail box.
The helicopter started to do pirouettes like crazy and we know the end of the story.
After careful inspection I found out that the tail case does not go all the way. I damage a brand new carbon boon to prove my point. I cut 4mm of it and that made the drive shaft to to all the way.
I advise you to check your heli, because the tail shaft is just few mm inside the tail case and if you work tail hard, it could happen what it happened to me..
I had that experience with a TSK long time ago.
I took some pictures and I will post them tomorrow.(Here are the pictures)

Are you saying that the torque tube splines are not engaging the tail drive enough? If this is the case, are you sure that you had the boom all the way into rear of the heli?

Correct
I will tell you that I am guilty for no checking that in the beginning. And I did made it worst, because in my Miniature and Robbe helicopters it is advise that after you put the tail boom you pull back a little in that way you do not get binding.
As you can see in the picture, I had to cut a piece of the boom.
I just advising you to check it in that way it does not happen to you.

I get ya. All the Raptors 60-90 have a little play built into the them to start, so you backing out the boom was a bad thing. That's one nice thing about the raps though, even in hot/cold weather the tail tube won't bind.

Here are the final pictures.
I do understand that you do not need to back out the tail boom and that was the problem that I had, but at the same time. Look the pictures and you will see how much I ended cutting from the tail boom (6mm ), in my opinion it is too much.
I just want you to be aware of this problem, it is up to you if you want to leave it like that and see what could happen in the near future. I was lucky that the only damage was tail boom and shaft. Otherwise I will be blaming the gyro, servo or the plastic gears if they were stripped.

Not to bash what you did, but wouldn't it have been better to shorten the heli end instead of the tailcase end of the boom. The way you elongated the holes in the boom could allow the tailcase to vibrate backwards and disengage the splines again.

After I cut it, I asked myself the same question. Too late, I could not glued back.
It is the first time I do this and perhaps if someone needs to do it, you gave him a better way to do it. And that is the reason we share info in these forums.
tailcase to vibrate backwards and disengage the splines again.
If that happens I will quit this hobby...
