i`ve stripped out the head on my rextor , in my gallery , and have made her flybarless , had several hoovers to get a feel for all thinks new and to say shes lively is an understatement , have now got two 401 gyro`s to bung on her so i can start throwing it around

no HH used , so far in hover mode and no gyros , its mega responsive and i mean responsive , thats all i know so far sorry , plus it is vey simply and if you have the gyro`s already or use ebay its cheap too , the engine is also a lot free`er to rev , hardley loaded , turned my throttle curve down and she just kept on rev`in

How are you setting the gains on the gyros?? How many channels is your Tx and Rx??

This sounds like a viable solution to getting my rappie to fly like my rexxie...

i would think that 2 gy240s would work better. by using 2 401s theyre no different than the 240s. only difference is that the 401s have a 2nd wire to switch between avcs and hh. since you dont need hh the 240s would seem like a better choice since theyre cheaper and always locked in avcs.

something im curious about is if a heli is ccpm 120 degree; what if you used 3 gyros and had them sensing the same angles as swashplate.

Ok, thanks Ady. I'm looking forward to reading your results and experiences! Good look I'm very interested in this thing cause I'd like to make my Helis flybarless in the near future. And this would be a cheap way to make my good old Rappy flybarless. For my Rex only a professional system is good enough

As I said, you want normal mode, and the 240 is dip switch selectable between normal and rate, you would want rate mode but I agree, the 240 is a better choice since you cant run the 401 w/o the remote gain hooked up.

i got two 401 cheaper on the net than my local shop could do two 240 `s , i use a ff9 with a 9 channel receiver , i`ve joined the two remote gain leads into channel 8 , set the gyro to non HH and have set the gain low and off via one of the transmitter switch`s , i did also notice that it was only the elevator that was mega lively . so will experiment with none , one and two gyros when time allows .plus if anyone can answer , wot can i expect the servo to do for me , am i right in sayin its to do with FFF and it`ll feel the same in a hover regardless , its ashame at the mo cos i go to work in the dark and its dark when i get back so gotta wait till the weekend to play

Flybar Ball Bearings
Please take out the ball bearings on the Head where the flybar attaches. Its an accident waiting to happen.

The 2 gains can be attached to diffrent channals if you have an 8 or 9 channel Rx. Having them tied to a single channel is not a good idea. Use ATVs to control the gain. Its a lot better to calibrate in flight that having to land to adjust. You will need more gain on the elevator and almost none on the aileron.

ugg, wish you weren't the UK, I'd trade you a hub without the head button, even lop off the top and smooth it out for you!

Could this work on say,A 600n?It would need 3 gyros(I think)but it should still work being ccpm and all right? It would be awsome to go flybarless cheap!

You'll need some way to mix the aileron and elevator gyro's to the 120* swash. CSM Cy-Lock (?) and V-bar are two ways I know of to accomplish this.
