Air Force Dave has a solo midair, it self destructed in flight
Was driving by TRAMPS field with the wife headed to Culvers and saw a few folks walking all through the weeds. Had supper and on the way back, I saw Dave's canary yellow jeep and stopped to see what was up.
Dave was counting all the pieces to his Freya 90. Apparently he was flying and it was working great and he brought it back to a hover and Kabloooeeeyyyyyyy. It blew up. Looks like one of the rotor grips failed because there was a Curtiss blade over in the parking lot complete with blade bolt but no rotor grip pieces. The receiver and half the gyro were over on the west runway and parts were everywhere. Tailboom was separated from the mainframe and the mainmast was indicating 2:30 if viewed like the big and little hands of a clock.
I took some pictures of Dave and the pieces on his cellphone so maybe he will post them. Anyway, HIROBO, that is Japanese for yard sale.

Sorry about your helis demise Dave. Time for a Raptor 90

Uh, anyone got some Freya parts?

I need.............uuuuummmmmm pretty much a whole new helicopter.

Gyro chopped in half, all servo ends ripped out from the servos, battery somewhere out in the tall weeds, screw with nut attached pulled completely through a carbon side frame, boom bent, mainmast looks like a rainbow, I think it even damaged bearings in my jeep!

Finished the teardown today - bag of broken parts is way bigger than bag of good parts. But I do have one good Radix 690mm blade. Woohoo.

Just stole the curtain rod from the shower - new boom! Cut up a couple of arrows for boom supports. Borrowed a metal clothes hanger from the closet for a flybar. I would rather have a frankenfreya than fly a stinger. But thanks anyway.

Where'd you find an octogon shower curtain rod, wisea$$? Maybe you can use that springy door stop thing for your tailfin, it can vibrate just as fast as the one you had on there before.
Don't be dissin' the shower curtain rod, got the tip here on RR and it's chrome and the strongest tailboom in history and is still flying 4 years later. Maybe you can get that GPH346 going by shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond.

You don't want that one, you can get a Raptor 90 3D for about $615.
Better yet you had a TIGER 50, you could have not one but two Pantera's for three bills.

It's already an antique, museum piece is more like it. Soon you will have to send it out for carbon dating just to remember what year you bought it.RapRexSynLogo Pilot

I just balled up my Rex 700 pretty bad due to a mid air boom strike and the parts came to under $100. Add canopy, blades(CY COSFLAW's), and RX (dammit) and you are now up to $400... FML! Lost my RX in the weeds! Probably right next to your battery.

I have to say though, I don't think I've ever seen a heli wrecked that bad. Way to go!

Found Rx
I was sitting in my backyard the other night and this thing came flying over the house and landed in the grass, I walked over and it was a Futaba Rx, at first I thought about "Chicken Little" but no, it must have been a sign from above? now it makes sense, it was Nick's Rx, made it all the way to K-Town from TC.
Chief

PS Dave I did not find anything from your Bird!

First he failed to use locktite. Now he has mixed up the velcro thing, you can't use two fuzzy pieces, or two prickly pieces, it takes one fuzzy and one prickly to hold the receiver to the heli.RapRexSynLogo Pilot
