11.30pm and I have just finished the head, I am leaving the tail untill Sunday afternoon, as I am flying the Trex Pro in the morning. I will try to get it finished Sunday night.

All in the kit is great, it fits together perfect, you can see this will be a low maintenance bird, Much better then the trex. this will be my rolls-royce of my fleet.

Vibe looks good

What is the quality of the canopy like? I had the Airskipper, and the canopy was very thin and the gelcoat cracked very easily...

Cheers

Canopy looks good, smooth and strong not as flexable as the trex.
I am going to spray mine, just thinking of some designs.

Well the weather here in the UK not too bad this weekend, so who's the first to really nark-off the rest of the world with some production kit flying shots?

I doubt mine will be finished in time to fly today, but perhaps by Tuesday or Wednesday there could be a few snaps to show off !!

Guy's

Has anyone noticed a possible error on page 25 of the manual ??
The assembly drawing indicates that the 3x14mm socket screw for fixing the washout arm to the washout base goes into the right side hole. However, I found that if you do this the ball link arms are the wrong way round. So I've used the left side hole and everything fits just fine.

Also if you look at the close up assembly photos on MacGregors website, these too show the left hand side hole of the washout base being used.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this ??

I believe you are refering to the pic on Macgregor's site http://www.macgregor.co.uk/helicopt.../S_DSCF2337.JPG

This pic was taken like two weeks ago from the final prototype build.

However if you look at the following close-up pics, you can see they used the right holes

http://www.macgregor.co.uk/helicopt...ash%20Plate.jpg

http://www.macgregor.co.uk/helicopt...0Body%20etc.jpg

These pics were taken friday so I believe the manual is correct. However its hard to tell since I don't have the kit in front of me. Are you saying the arms won't square up when mounted that way?

Tony.

The washout arms (ie: lower control arms) come pre-assembled in the kit, but if you try to mount them into the right hole of the washout base as per the manual, then the ball links are the wrong way round with the smaller hole of the ball link facing the ball on the swashplate. The result is that you cant push the ball link over the ball.

If you go to MacGregors website homepage you can click on the link to the Vibe 50 assembly photographs. Scroll down and you'll see the exploded picture of the fully assembled washout base with arms. The picture clearly shows the arms mounted on the left side hole.

I think most JR kits tell you to use the side of the link without the JR Propo logo to snap onto the ball as this is the side with the larger hole.

Oh I Think I get it now. So basically it seems that the plastic L shaped links seem to be reversed so they won't enter the balls.

Hum...

The only fix I can see is to remove the pin locks and flip the links but thats a pain in the butt I suppose...

So how did the factory pilots been able to mount it the correct way on the last set of pictures?

EDIT: I don't see a JR logo here: http://www.macgregor.co.uk/helicopt...02nd%20view.jpg

Well actually I do but on the most furthest link so it seems they were fitted backwards.

Anyway, If you mount them on the left hole, what are going to be the consequences during cyclic input? won't the flybar tilt be reversed?

The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced there won't be any ill effect of having both of the arms mounted in the left hole. The only diference is that one link will be pulling the right side of the flybar instead of pushing the left side. It ends up being the same I guess.

Mickey, you're keeping yours on the left holes?

It is a bit confusing as the logo on the wash out is upside down in the manual

That looks perfect to me

EDIT: This is exactly how it is in the PDF manual I have... the letters are upside down both in the manual and on Macgregor's pics. Whats the problem?

I've just been studying the head of my Airskipper 50 and even though mine is very heavilly upgraded there are some similarities to the Vibe. Surprise Surprise !! the washout control arms are mounted on the left of the washout base.

Therefore I'm going to leave mine mounted on the left and ignore the manual. I'll also ask Mac_Man if he could check this with JR.
