From studying the manual it would appear that we have a 50 size machine that will make me happy!

yeah... kinda looks heavy though. Aprox weight 7.8-8.25 lbs (3538gr-3742gr)

If they state that, add another 100gr at least

I do like the way they mount the engine. seems that if you remove the lower landing gear, the two screws that hold the bottom plate to the front, the two screws that hold the engine block to the frames and the fan shroud, you can pull out the engine entirely with muffler and all.

Hmm... maybe I can save some weight somewhere...

Yes, I was surprised at their stated auw, maybe its rtf including fuel?

Otherwise it may be the heaviest 50 on the market!

I pretty much like everything about it though, nice things like the clamp ring for the mainshaft instead of grub screws, adjustable main gear mesh front and rear, proper tail pushrod guides and governor weights in the clutch bell instead of having to hack the cooling shroud apart. I could go on!

Curiously my 600N does weight now precisely 3520gr (with eagletree mounted) and my Evo 50 is at 3840gr (without eagletree) so it seems the vibe will be in between the two.

Maybe after Bob at QuickUk makes some carbon frames it will shave off some weight of it.

Sounds OK then, we will find out very soon!

I would expect better quality parts to come with a small weight penalty.

Tony, where do the 320g of extra weight over the advertised 3200g come from on the 600N, some of its the Eagletree but what about the rest?

God knows.

I suspect its because of the full metal head. Most of my electronics is lighter than standart (multigov lighter than gv-1, spartan lighter than 611, etc) and I saved 6 grams with the tail clamp (no horizontal fin here) but I lost 5.5 gr on the tail rotor and around 3gr on the main bearing blocks. my 9351 are metal cased and pretty heavy (69gr) so in servos alone I'm already loosing like 33gr total against the 9451. Now add my two 3155's (carbsmart and throttle) so it ends up with almost 50gr which is still 4 gr over a stock throttle servo...

Another 20gr for the switchglo and I'm sure the 300gr are somewere in there

It still flies great and has great pop so the weight isn't everything. I was shocked when I found out that the diference between my evo 50 and my 600N were only mere 300gr. They fly so different I blamed the head geometry and gear ratio.

Since the vibe has the same gear ratio as the evo50, if it flies more like the 600N, we will be sure its related to the head geometry.
I like the mechanic more and more as I study the manual. The weight just doesn't come out of my head... we will see. I'm glad I didn't buy a new set of electronics.

I'm now moving to plan C which is to build the bird carefully as possible, rip the electronics of my 600N and just slap them on the vibe and do a few test flights. If it convinces me, I'll re route everything and make a neat installation. If it doesn't come out like I wished, I'll rip off the electronics again and send Rbush a pm for a quick low price sale

You may as well get Real Raptors to send Tony's one straight to you, cut out the middle man and save on postage!

Just tell Tony its rubbish when you get it and it'll ease his pain.
