The Align stepdown will drop the voltage .9V so that may not be what you want from 5.8V

Another reason for tail wag besides to high a gain value (also my first guess) would be either too much resistance in the tail control or too much play. Any of these will cause the servo to get hot also.

check the case temp. of the 9254 after a flight it. it shouldn't be hot. Especially check the screw heads at the bottom of the case, I find this is where you'll see the heat.

- check for play
- check for resistance
- don't run the gain too high

I will check all suggestions as well as gain and loose connections either tonight or tomorrow. The whole nine yards will be re-evaluated and reported back here.

I checked all connections and everything seem fine so I replaced the servo and it worked good. So now we know that the servo was bad. Now the question is if the servo burned out due to the higher voltage OR just because its been through a crash before. It could also be a mixture too so I think I will get a voltage regulator JUST IN CASE and if it helps then great, otherwise, it was a 5 dollar investment and a safeguard.

sound like a good decision everyone?

If you bought the servo less than a year ago then it's still under warranty and you can box it up and send it in for repair.
