I've just done about 50 pounds damage to my heli, all told. But this is about the point where I say to myself that perhaps I'd be as well buying a new kit. I have some niggles. My current motor (400lf 2800) runs a bit hot (75 centigrade) and I reckon the bearings aren't great.
What I want is something as durable as possible, and that I can use my current stock of spare parts on.
At the moment, I'm looking at the
450S carbon £155
450S Alu £140
450XL CDE £110
I have also considered the 3DX £150 'cos I like the servo arrangement.
All of the above come with motors and ESC (which I don't need). Would really look for something on Ebay, but there's no bare-bones helis there at the minute.
I don't see much advantage to going for the SE, as I have a fair amount of Alu upgrades already. I'm more interested in durability than anything else, as I reckon I've some crashes still to work out of my system. I've been flying about 2 months and can hover all orientations and do lazy 8s. Now most of my crashes are lack of judgement rather than lack of skill. I've got a reasonable stock of spare parts and if I understand correctly, the SE v2 isn't completely compatible with earlier versions.
Which frames would be more durable? CF, alu or plastic. My prejudice is against Alu as I can imagine it bending out of line easily.
