DX 7 binding Question
I am assuming if both reveiver lights are on binding is done and the radio is ready to go ??
I am asking because every thing works fine , without the binding process.

Thanks in advance

Yes , if the light stays on when you power up the RX , binding should be complete .
I would go ahead and rebind it before I put it in the heli , and then rebind it after I set the heli up .

Important Gyro Binding Information!
It is also important to rebind the system after your gyro is setup!!, because the Spectrum will want to seek the fail safe settings of the rudder servo, rather than the servos "true neutral" posistion, this will cause all kinds of drifting problems when the heli is in flight!, also rebind anytime a rudder trim change is made, from the zero posistion....

Only throttle channel has failsafe, and thats only thing affected by binding, if you have gyro problem its not realated to failsafe/binding, more likely to be gryo powering up before receiver.

This is cured, I'm told, by cycling the transmitter power with the reciever already on?Andy

ALL Spectrum channels have defined failsafe conditions. For all except the throttle, the failsafe condition is the position in effect during the last bind operation. For the throttle, the failsafe condition is no output at all. Failsafe (I think) refers to a receiver that is powered but has not yet connected with a transmitter.

The issue with HH gyros is:

1. The GY401 (and others?) accepts the rudder position it sees during its initialization as "rudder neutral".

2. During receiver initialization, the Spektrum receivers output the failsafe position, not the current transmitter stick / trim position.

3. The GY401 often (usually?) finishes initializing before the receiver so it ends up using the rudder failsafe position instead of the current rudder position. If you have not changed the rudder trim since the last bind operation, all is well. But if you moved the rudder trim after binding, the gyro will initialize using the failsafe rudder position and then after the receiver initializes, will see a different rudder position and interpret this as a command for a constant yaw.

So the "cure" is to set the rudder trim to neutral, re-bind, and then don't touch the rudder trim again.
