Doesn't sound like the failsafe is set for throttle to off/idle like it should be. That is pretty dangerous for an electric.

It is set to cut the throttle should there be a lockout. However the Castle esc's take 1 second to cut the throttle once there has been a lockout. Also I suspect the problem was caused by the 3amp max align BEC being pushed too hard (the heli has the Rotoworkz frame with 3 s9650's for cyclic, and I suspect the 9650's were drawing more current than most standard size servos because they're a mini servo). If the align BEC caused the problem and not a radio lockout than who knows how the fail safe settings would be affected.

I've got a few Castle ESCs, and I've never seen, read about or even heard about that one second delay. I have read that there is a delay before the throttle will come back on, but not about one that keeps power on while locked out. Regardless, I'll bet that is one _long_ second when the machine you're flying belongs to someone else.

The 9650 servos will not have been drawing current to the point where this is of any significance to the Align BEC

The throttle cut delay is something I have experianced before where the machine locks out (radio lockout) but the machine keeps spinning for a second before it shut down. I don't think it's written down or anything but I have experianced a delay in the past as have other guys I fly with. It might be something in older firmwares and not be an issue on the escs now. Anyways, that was just one of my speculations as to why the power didnt shut off right away.

Jafa - I disagree with you; on my raptor 50 (granted it has one extra servo for the throttle, that servo has no load on it and draws very little extra current) I have recorded over 3.7amp peaks being drawn from my servos. When you put mini servos in an application where a standard size servo is often used a mini servo will most often end up drawing more current because the load is pushing the mini servo closer or past its limit whereas the standard servo is well below its load limit. So just because the standard servo is larger doesnt mean it will draw more under the same load conditions, it's quite the opposite. I think a 3amp peak is definitely achievable with 3 9650's and a GY611/9256.
