MP5 turns into Maraca
Just finished putting 1 1/2 gallons through my new Synergy when all of the sudden I hear a pinging sound. After I land, and the heli is idling I can still hear this ringing sound that sounds like a really loose clutch bell. While the motor is running I'm trying to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. No Luck!

After a good look over I decide it's got to be coming from the motor. Well to make a long story short, I take the motor off and as I lift the motor out I hear a clunk. WTF! It's in the pipe...I take the pipe off, and sure enough it sounded like a piece of either a baffle or something has broken loose inside the pipe!

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this with the Muscle Pipe 5
? My heli has never been crashed...hell it's just barely broke in. Good thing I bought the pipe from a reliable place that I know will take care of me, but what a hassle.

I assume there is no cause other than poor manufacturing? The pipe kicked ass until this minor hang up so I can't blame it on engineering.

The part circled in red is what I think broke loose. I have a protruding lump where the arrow is. I'm thinking it was knocking around pretty good before I landed. Also, I'm pretty sure cutting it open would void the warranty.

What's the best pipe for a .91 SX-H OS motor? The store I bought it from is now BACKORDERED on the MP5 Just my luck....Not looking good for getting the synergy back up for a little while now.

Send it in...they may still cover it. Trust me, bad publicity is a motivator.

I'll hold onto the link for this thread when the next "why do Hatori's cost so much" thread appears. Avoiding this issue is one such reason. Curtis will make it right, though.

One thing we need to remember is that there is about 10:1 Muscle Pipes sold for every Hatori. There are always ten times as many at every fun fly I go to anyway. I personally like Hatori's, but one reason you hear of problems so often on here is there are so many of the things. I love Hatori's, but they do cost too much for what they cost to make. That being said I love my SB-18 on my OS 91SZ PH-Hyper.

As it has been said, Curtis will make things right for sure. Just call him.

I just shut mine down tonite. same sound. It also seems that it will cause the engine to fluctuate from rich to lean. I have also started having problems with my header tank emptying before my main. New tank, clunk lines and fuel lines. could this be related?R. C.

Its a done deal. the quality of products is not the only thing that makes a company stand out. The service that they give is 65% of the total rating. That being said, Thanks Brian at CY Enterprizes. The turnaround on the service call was lightning fast. Its hard to find that anymore. Thanks Curtis, and thanks Jerry @ OKC Hobbies and RC.

Even Porche and mercedes have a few problems too.
