I've been following a number of Air Thunder threads lately. I'm thankful that I'm not in a position to buy any new packs because I'd be hard pressed to decide whether to go FlightPower or Air Thunder.

The Air Thunder packs are a smidge heavier but are practically immune to low voltage problems. AT also offers a 50% buy back deal for any packs that have been destroyed in a crash. Head over to the Batteries & Chargers forum... there are a number of threads there that discuss this topic.

That smidge heavier might throw your cg off significantly, something to consider. Has anyone got any true comparisons however on the AT packs for voltage output in the smaller lipo range as I have not seen any......Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I saw some FDR data in one of the 2200 threads... I didn't see anything that was alarming... well except taking it below 9V at the end of the discharge ~~OCHC~~

I would look some more, there is a post going on heli-freak about them and it doesn't look all that good.
Look for post.( Witch lipo? ) One owner says,( these batteries suck ! )
Also the AT is a tank (( AT 2200 190g!!))
TP 2200 extreme are 170g!!
About 20g are about the same as 4 quarters in change more on the nose of your helicopter! Can you say CG!!!
And if the AT are $135.00 EACH!
You can get TP 2200 extreme for a lot LESS!!
Just something to think about!

wuz the deal dct? you're quite the AT basher it seems lol. I'm sure all the guy over at the freak has to do is contact AT and they'll make it right. They appear to be customer focused and not afraid to post in a forum. When was the last time you saw FP post publicly... heck I don't think I've ever read a post from someone over at TP.

The $135 I quoted was for two packs.... and guess what... I was wrong... it's $125.98 for two!

As far as weight, most are running that big ol' 9650 on their tail and could probably benefit from those 4 quarters on the nose.

Relax man. It's okay... really

I got my AT 2200 3s packs last week and so far they are great. The first thing I thought about was the cg and they didn't bother it at all. They are a little tight in the V2 canopy but it still goes on easy. I can't tell any difference between the AT's and TPX 2070's.

I have to say I'm a little curious about dct's behavior regarding AT packs as well, in this and another thread. Did you get burned by AirThunder or something? I've seen tons of threads on this and other forums from people very pleased with their new AirThunder packs, with the only complaint generally being the well known fact that they're a little heavier than similar capacity batteries. And yet you're making dire warnings in several threads based on ONE thread on heli-freak about someone getting a defective AirThunder battery. I've seen many threads about defective Thunder Power batteries, and I don't see you popping up in every ThunderPower thread warning people off from buying them. What's up? As long as the batteries have a good success rate, and a good warranty that the company honors promptly for the cases where they fail, I don't really see what the problem is.

I have 4 of the 3S AirThunder packs, a TP Extreme 2070 and TP Prolite 2100, an Align 22C 2100, and 2 MegaPower 2100 15C packs. As far as I can tell at my level of flying the AirThunder and TP Extreme packs perform equally well for the first few minutes, but I get more flight time at full power from the AirThunder packs. The MegaPower packs are pretty inadequate for the Trex now that I've gotten into aerobatics, the Align pack performed well for a little while but then puffed. I haven't had a problem getting my heli to balance correctly with the AT packs, but I do have to put them back back as far as they'll go, so I can imagine some people might have a problem if their heli has a lighter tail than mine.

So guys if you have a choice what will you get Flight Power or Air Thunders? because both costs the same. I read some where that TPX 2070's are not upto the mark thats why TP has come out with 2200's is it true?
Does AirThunder packs come with TP balancer connector?

Please advise.

I received my 2 Air Thunder packs a couple of weeks ago. So far (in my best Tony the Tiger voice) They're GRRRRREAT!

I do wish that the balance connector was about 1" longer but that's a minor nitpick. I use an FMA CellPro charger which charges through the ballance connector so it's a bit of a pain to connect/disconnect the short lead. On the flipside, I'm sure if they made it longer someone would complain about the extra weight...

That is what I purchased, I am a very newbie. IMHO, I am getting a solid 15 + minutes of hovering and moving around with these. If my HO is worth anything!
