computer hardware help
I am thinking of getting an Acer notebook computer. It has the following specs:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2 GHz, 4MB, 800 FSB)
Chipset: Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset
Memory: 1 GB DDR2 (Upgradeable up to 4 GB)
Video Type: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X1300 with up to 358MB DVMT 4.0
Video Memory: 8 MB Dedicated Memory, 350 MB Shared Memory

Will the Real Flight G3 work with these specs? Thank you.

some have had issues with reaflight and vista, some got it to work on vista.

As for the spec of the com, it is definately decent enough to run realflight. However, because the G3.5 shadow(at highest setting) requires quite a bit of muscle from the gpu to process, you might not be able to go highest setting and get decent frame rate at the same time. All in all, it will work fine.

btw, vista is a resource hog and most laptop(including yours) uses the onboard ram for gpu memory instead of dedicated, so you might want to increase the ram to 2gb.

Okay. Thanks. Although running the flight simulator is not the main reason for buying a notebook computer, it certainly wouldn't hurt if I purchase one that is compatible. I want to be sure before purchasing because there used to be a sticky thread here about G3 compatible video cards but I don't see it now. If I remember correctly, one of the cards that won't work is by Intel though I don't have the exact model.

Don't worry about the on board graphic, even a 945gma which the x3100 replaced will work with ok frame rate in the photofield.

Btw, I think you are referring to the x3100 from intel right? The x1300 is from ati.

I don't know about X3100 being ATI or Intel. I just copied the specs from Acer's website and its says X1300.....I'll try to contact my dealer and clarify. Thanks.
