I am not so lucky. Mine is tight like a mofo. How can I fix this?? The dampeners don't sit flush with the head. Is this the cause??Duc S

very tight and I'm not flying it to "get it loose"...

Standart spacers are 1.3mm which is too tight. I tried 0.9 (ones I had lying around) and the head became sloppy so my bet is going towards 1mm or even 1.1mm

Now finding a spacer/shim that is 11(12)mm Out, 8mm In and 1(1.1)mm thick is proving to be harder than I thought...

Update:

I swaped the original align shims (1.3mm) for some fury 1mm shims and now the head is perfect. No slop and no notchiness

I am not sure why some are having a problem, billet 600N blade grips are the easiest upgrade to any heli I have ever done....

its not the metal grips that are a problem. Its when you start using third party dampers like the infinavations

put mine on at ircha no problems at all a little tiny bit notchy flew it one flight and walla perfect....

the problem isnt with the dampners its the spindles some are slightly smaller then some others. 1 thou or even 1/2 thou smaller makes a huge difference

Shimming parts to achieve optimum clearance and fit is a fact of life in this hobby. Some designs are more forgiving than others with respect to fits. In the case of the Infinivation dampners and the design of the 600N spindle, there can be an accumulation of tolerances that either has it too loose, too tight or just right.

Shimming parts or removing small amounts of material to acquire proper operation in this case should not be considered a design error. Sometimes designs incorporate the means of obtaining proper clearances by adjusting dimensions so shims must be used... except when the tolerance buildup goes your way and no shims are required.

The problem today is so many kits and blades are made very consistantly and beginners have come to expect a bolt it together and fly heli. Look how many people out there that don't know how to balance dynamic assemblies or even blades.

I am one of the lucky ones. Mine fit perfectly with no play and no binding.

Mine were very slightly notchy but once I installed the Infinavation Shim kit they were perfect. The shim kit is now available from Infinavation and I got mine at IRCHA.
