regulator help : cant change the voltage in the arizona
hi everyone,

My arizona regulator does not allow me to change the voltage when I bridge the two ends together. The voltage is currently approx. 7.8 volts. When I turn it on, the voltage remains the same, but the voltage to the 611 gyro (as displayed in the gyro menu) is at 4.6 volts. I am assuming that this is the voltage to the gyro servo. It appears to be correct. Can someone tell me why the voltage does not shift? The reading in my governor I believe is 5.8 volts.

Why does my hobbico voltmeter read 7.8? Do I need to use a different voltmeter? Any help would be appreciated

Best,
Andy K

Where are you taking the reading from??? 5.8 at the gov means the reg is putting out 5.8v. 4.6v at the gyro is constant and will never change, although it should read 4.8.

7.8 sounds like you are reading the voltage from the charge lead to the battery. Not the right place to read from. You need to take a reading from the reciever at one of the servo ports, or read it right off your gov(which is the correct reading BTW)

Yes! I am taking the reading from the charge lead....
You recommend that I take the reading by inputing the jack into one of the receiver ports?

Thanks!

reading from the governor is also okay?
reading from the governor is acceptable? why do you suppose that the reading on the 611 gyro is 4.6. From what I understand, I cannot modify that

THanks,

The gyro output is NOT adjustable. It is set at 4.8 to keep you from frying your tail servo. It CANNOT be changed.

Reading off the gov is more than acceptable.

Reading off your charge lead is DIRECT battery output..IE non-regulated.

This is how the arizona operates. The voltage to the rest of the servos is whatever you put it at, however to the gyro it's a set value (mine is at 4.8/4.9). The reason they did this is because certain gyro/servo combinations are not suitable to be ran higher than 6v, but all are fine at 4.8v hence the voltage to the gyro/tail servo is always gonna be this set value. Hope this explains things for you......now where was I, dh/dt = BS-dx/dt

And still nobody told him how to do this.
Unplug the lead from the Regulator to the receiver at the receiver end.
Use this end that used to feed into the receiver into your voltmeter or your "8 Ball" to check the voltage while cycling through it.

If you are using the "8 Ball" then let it do it's cycling through the 1A and 1.5A load test and it will come up naturally as "No flying" due to the voltage being below 7.0 Vdc. Once it has finished with the message, it will then resume with displaying the true voltage measured at which stage you can use the reading to cycle through your voltages until it's set to what you want.
Personally I would suggest a voltage of 5.8Vdc or lower to play it safe.
Don't forget that once set, double check it by disconnecting the battery, re-powering the system and taking another reading to check that it is now the voltage you have set.

I used to leave a small lead plugged into an empty spot on my rx. Then whenever I adjused the output voltage on the Arizona, I would just plug in my volt meter to this servo lead and adjust the voltage until I achieved the desired result.

You do not have to unplug anything as long as you have an empty spot on your rx. Plug your volt meter into it and take the reading, with your transmitter and heli powered up of course.
