Very impressive set of photos.

At first I thought your first picture was the one I saw in RCHeliMag of Colin Bell's helicopter with the vortex effect off the blade tips but then checked again to see it was a different pilot/photo. Nice effect to get twice!

It was almost like being their when looking through your gallery. Thanks for sharing, it's inspirational seeing that resolution and quality.

Why was everyone camped out on the pavement instead of on the grass? Looks pretty hot and uncomfortable - My butt is sore just looking at those pics Although it did make for a pretty nice pic of ASJ sitting next to his Aurora which is my new wallpaper for now if that's ok with you - All great pics though Thanks for sharing

This is from your gallery Mark...

How is this possible?? Is it an optical illusion or is he at -12 pushing out and there's that much effect on the helicopter?

pete - Thanks, and yes the 1D is great to shoot with.

bruce - I appreciate the compliments. That shot of Colin Bell's was late on Sunday afternoon just after a thunderstorm. The dark background of trees and rain clouds really helped the sun highlight the heli. That is one of my favorite shots of the event.

Micro-Maniac - You can use Szabo's pic no problem. It was hot on the pavement but that was the best platform to fly from at that site. BTW - that is actually Danny's heli in the pic. Alan was waiting to call for his flight.

tnbulldog - Thanks a lot for the kind words.

Raptor3dpilot - The shot of Jim Stark's N9 was taken just after it bounced hard off the runway and the blades and tailboom are both bending. The impact threw out the fuel tank.

onebigjunker & Raptorize - That's exactly what happened.

Frebou - Thanks and I used a 1D mkII n with a 300 2.8L lens for all the action shots. It's a great setup for sports.

As always, great pics Mark! Thanks for sharing. Is that a canopy bolt falling off Bobby's heli?

See you in a few days at IRCHA,

Colin

Colin - Wow, you're right, that is a canopy bolt. I never noticed that before. The resolution of that camera/lens is amazing. Have a safe trip down and I'll see ya at ircha.

Bert - Thanks, I liked the color scheme of your heli. It is very well done and looked great in the photos. Ircha baby! See ya there.
