Blades not tracking on inverted hover only
My blades track fine upright but when I invert and hover in front of me, my blades are about 1mm off. Anyone run into this and if so, how'da fix it. Im flying 325 pro woods and trueblood dampners. Ive noticed some extra dampner material sticking out of my headblocks. Any ideas?

I just put those dampners in. Think I could reverse them in the headblock? The other ones I got looks like they have some extra material too. As far as carbons go, cant afford right now.
They will have to wait. My woodies havnt failed me yet.=)

Not exactly. I dont have a big field near my station so I fly in a grassy area thats about 100 by 40 ft next to the building. Not very big but big enough to practice hovering manuvers. No matter anymore about the tracking issues. I just wrapped my flybar around the whole head assembly. Took out everything around my head. All 3 cyclic servos. Got too low then it was like when you put your car in reverse and mean to put it in drive, I gave it positive and should have been going negative. Thems the brakes! This will ground me for a while. Now thats flyin them till you splinter them.

By the way, can you buy the plastic arms that link the washout base to the swash without buying the whole washout assembly? Yeh, got those too.

Thanks Wingman77. You know its funny how Im not breaking bottom plates and skids (right now at least) since Ive been learning inverted flight my spare parts list needs to be revised. =-)

Check your head for a loose ball or loose mixing arm. I had the problem of tracking good upright but not inverted and it was a loose ball in the head.

Thats funny cause I was gonna check over the head that evening for that very thing and check and correct any blade balance issues. Now Im waiting on an anti rotation bracket, 3 servo gear sets, and those plastic washout base to swash control arms. Oh yeah, not to mention linkages. Wish I could have took a pic but that 290 mm flybar made at least 1 1/2 wraps around the main mast!

Earlier this year I had this same issue. Finally what solved it was new links everywhere on the head. Maybe the balls and links wear in a little more in the upright phases of flight and after a while when you go inverted the load on the links go from pulling to pushing and that little bit of slop affects tracking. I could not detect any slop in the links before I changed them out but I did notice the balls were worn in a certain direction. Worked for me. I had about 50 flights on it before I started going inverted. Inverted tracking was fine after the change.

Sounds like something to try. Ive got a pack of new plastic ends that Ive been using to replace worn out ones. Maybe replacing them all would fix it.

I have the hardened "O" rings in my head, with the wood blades the tracking was always off, I switched to Maverick 305 Carbons and the tracking is straight line perfect.MD 800

I would love to try a set of carbons but cant afford right now. I need to start back flying upright and my crash rate would go back down, save up some money, then make another go at it. =-)

Although I have found the wooden blades to track inconsistently between sets, your situation sounds more like a loose ball-linkage or some other source of slop in the head.

Since you`re still crashing here and there, I would not recommend spending the money on carbons - sacrificial woodies definitely have their benefits.

Once you are past the frequent dumbthumbs stage and/or aquire the discipline to only perform manouvres you have mastered on the simulator first, then you can reward yourself by switching to carbons.

...my two cents,

Dave
