Trex 450 v2 Main Blade Holder binding
Has anyone had problems with the fit of the Trex 450 v2 main blade holders and the Align carbon fiber blades? The slot of my V2 main blade holders measures approximately 4.66 mm and the blades are measuring 4.86/4.93mm thick at the mounting hole. To install the blades, they have to be forced into the holders, spreading the blade holders and binding the blades from rotating. Is the main blade holder slot to narrow or the main blades to thick?

Menace,

So should I consider that the blade holders are manufactured correctly and the blades are just too thick? What are individuals doing to utilize the carbon blades? I could try to reduce the thickness to 4.66mm. This is my first Trex and it is a little frustrating that I am having this problem. The bottom line is I cannot use these blades with the supplied holders as is.

Thanks for your response,

Just sand the blade roots lightly until they fit the grips nicely.

I too had the same problem on my SEv2 when I first got it. I stuck a pair of long nose thin needle nose pliers w/ silicone tubing on them and opened the grips up ever so slightly (kind of "killed" my pliers but who cares). After that, they fit less snug, but we're "snugger" then I'd have liked. At least I could move the blades back for transport without feeling like I was going to delaminate the carbon on my blade roots.

Now I just got done rebuilding from a very bad crash and my new Align carbon blades fit loosely! Go figure! It is nice having them looser by the way...

Same here, several different sets of blades all fit very tightly in my V2 grips. I'm using the Align carbons that came with the V2 kit. I flew with them too tight for a while, but it would cause vibration occasionally, so I sanded the blade roots down, just enough to take the white paint off, and now the fit just perfect.

I went down to the local hobby shop and check several different brand blades for thickness at the mounting hole and found that some of them would fit. So, I decided to sand the blade to size. Now they fit perfect. I had to sand all of the gel coat off of the bottom of the blade.

Thanks for all of the replies,
