3 Blade Lama
Hi all,

I have just mounted the MRB 3 blade head to my Hirobo Lama and it is acting very strange.

The main problem is the heli wants to rotate anti clockwise as if the tail rotor is not working. Even at full lock on rear rotor.
All I have done is remove 2 blade standard head and fitted 3 blade system.
This means I cant lift off and see how the rest feels.

Any clues????

Regards
Andrew

You may have too much pitch on the main blades and not enough revs. A multi head looks like it is going faster than it actually is because of the extra blades. Drop the pitch and increase the rpm a bit. Also there is more torque so you will need more tail pitch anyway. If you are running a heading hold gyro remember to set the tail up mechanically in normal mode for no drift before using heading hold. Do you know how to set the phasing of the swashplate?
Hope this helps.

There should be a drawing of the raduis block that attaches to the inner ring of the swashplate in the manual. Its position determines the timing of control inputs to the head. With the block attached to the inner ring, line it up so it's facing the nose of the heli. Looking from over head, the blade grip on the right should be at 90 degrees. Use the balls on the outer ring for reference.

Since there is so many of you with great info,i have some guestions, i'm in the process of building my lama, i just put the three bladed head on, hooked up all the linkages, something i have never heard is all the squeaking coming from the radius assembly when you give inputs to the cyclic, it looks like the radius assembly is twisting, is that normal?

Where can you find a three bladed tail rotor? (here in the US)

No that's not normal. The radius block is basically a clamp with a moveable arm. The clamp speaks for itself, and the arm rises and falls with the swashplate and shouldn't bind. Is the link too tight on the ball?

Just curious if anyone uses the longer mast that comes with the MRB 3 bladed head kit, it says it is for the 300, but why can't it be used on the lama? that lama mast seems short, plus if you had a real aggressive cyclic movement you would think that maybe the main blade could come in contact with the tailboom, since they seem to be so low, any ideas?
