T-Rex head speed
A friend of mine just bought a T-Rex 450SE V2 and only seems to be able to get 1750 RPM head speed. He is running the 3550KV Align motor with Align 325mm carbon blades. The ESC is programmed to Heli 1 and the timing is set on "High" timing. He is running the 13 tooth pinion gear with the blue main grear. We have checked the tail belt tension and it is not to tight. We have adjusted the mesh between the pinion and the main gear a couple of times and have not noticed much difference. He is running the stock Align battery and has two 2200 11.1 lipo's from 2 Dogs R/C and there is only a slight difference in RPM between the three batteries. The 1750 head speed is with a pitch of 5 degrees. We don't know where to go from here other then to put a 15 tooth pinion gear on the motor. Everyone that posts here seems to be saying that the rotor speed should be between 2000 and 3000 RPM. Are we doing something wrong? Maybe we are missing something that is very common. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help that we could get would be great..

Did you set the travel (EPA or ATV) on the transmitter for the throttle channel. Adjust both ends so you get 100% throttle at high stick and 0% at low stick.

I agree, its probably a throttle setting, throttle TRVL. ADJ. should be 100%, throttle pitch curve should be, for normal, low 0%, mid 80%, high 100%, for stunt, low 100%, mid 85%, high 100%, the 13t pinion will give you 2761rpm at 100% throttle.MD 800

I forgot to tell you guys that my friend is using a JR 9303 radio and it has a 7 point throttle curve. We checked the throttle curve last night and it is set at 0-27-51-67-80-90-100. travel adjust is set at 100 percent top and bottom. We have a top pitch of 9 degrees and a bottom pitch of 9 degrees as well. The motor doesn't seem to be in any kind of a bind and the blades have been balanced. The blades and paddles are tracking right on. Before we set the timing to high and re-ajusted the gear mesh the T-Rex was only turning about 1500 rpm. We are both stumped on what to do. This is the first electric heli that we have messed with but my friend has been flying a Raptor 50 V2 for 5 years now and also has a Freya Evo .91 that he flys. Does anyone have any other ideal??? Has anyone else heard of this kind of problem?

One more thing,, that motor 430L 3550kv doesn't like high timing !!!
Also,, check that your pinion is not slipping .

Idon't know about the timeing, but the pinion could do it, or the one way clutch in the main gear could do the same thing. If you have access to other motors, and speed controlers you culd try swaping them out one at a time.

Well, most of us check rpm's at 0 pitch and then at hover speed.
This will change as battery drops power.Pitch at hover will be different for each helicopter, but most are about 5 to 6 pitch.

Well have finally inded up with around 2800 at 5 degrees pitch. We re-adjusted the mesh worked with the pitch and charged the tach up. I think that the tach battery was a little low but I still can't see that making that much difference but no matter as long as it is flying good and it is now!!!
I want to thank everyone for all their help!!! That's what I love about this hobby, all the help that everone gives when someone need it....
