Swift tail bearing - need help
hello,

i am changing the bearings of my swift, and ordered this part CNBB0384 (which is for the grips).

i got my swift second hand, so i didn't have to install them. about 2 months back, they got chewed up and i replaced with some bearings which are of same size (3x8x4mm). i think they came from my trex 450.

the tail blades seemed a bit gritty when i rotated them after i installed the trex bearings, so i didn't tighten them that much ( i am referring to the bolt which goes thru the grips/bearings and finally to the tail rotor hub).

anyhow, that's how my tail gave (refer to my recent autorotation post).

i ordered genuine bearings, and they showed up ... they look different than the trex bearings. they are not thrust bearings, but are slightly open on one side.

my question is, how do i install them? if i were to guess, i am guessing the closed end of the bearings faces the blades (bec. of centrifugal force) ... does this apply to both bearings (on each grip)?

thanks .... khan

I use tri flow now. I used grease before and it attracts dirt so I had to clean more often. Good luck....RonTeam MikadoUSA 480XXTreme, 550SX, 600SX, 700XXTreme, 800XXTreme!!

If your looking for thrust bearings for the tail , the trex 450 v2 uses a 3x8x3 thrust bearing for the main grips.
I'd like to get my hands on some of these for my swift also, align parts are nice and cheap too

I've read the 3x8x3 don't last long , my experience has been the same. I had some 3x8x4 from a cheapie (ebay) raptor metal tail i never used. I hear the 3x8x4 last longer. Thrust is still the answer though.

I modded my t-rex's for dual radial and thrust bearings on the tail with excelent results.

Stock was hub / radial / thrust
I modded to hub / radial / radial / thrust.

I fitted a bolt to bottom out of the hub before it put too much presure on the thrust bearing. Smoooth now. The swift should be much the same.
