Use of custom belt drive gear ratios, cross pin modification.
I have tried using a larger 44t gear from SDP-SI for a while now, It uses a Fairloc retention system, which is good, but as FCM found out, not perfect for our applications. This gear permits an 8.28:1 gear ratio which is about right for 810mm blades and a gross weight of about 21LBS. I find the 7.49:1 ratio to be too tall for this application.

Due to one reported shaft slippage I decided to attempt to cross pin it similarly to the Vario stock 40t gear. I placed the gear in the drill press,centered it as well as possible, and drilled one side (away from the Fairlock slotting) with an M2 bit. I then found it to fit perfectly with the cross pin engaging the entire shaft, and one side of the aluminum hub. This with the Fairloc's grip, makes the aftermarket pulley hold confidently enough for me. See picture:

Nice job Eric. Maybe I should post some pics of what I did to lock the gear wheel to the shaft.

I see, I like the one flange pulley, more convienient to derail the belt than my 2 flange one.

By the way, FCM I haven't built the twin yet, got too busy with AP, but it is the first item on the agenda, thanks again for the clutch.
