I'm still waiting for Jimoc and Sealerman to blame Bush for the bridge collapse. I'm really suprised they haven't came to that conclusion yet.
Everything else is Bush's fault why not this?
Well not directly but when your administrations cuts funding to every local jurisdiction for maintenence, then yes he is at fault. The country will continue to "collapse" funding cut after funding cut.

maybe the religious right can "pray" the bridges up.

If your going to make claims that budgets were cut, please provide some form of proof

Government budgets nearly never get cut. They only get increased. To Democrats, a cut is when they don't get as large of an increase as they would have liked. Don't fall for it Brian!

How about the latest Zogby polls If liberals are doing such a great job, then why only a 3% approval rating of the liberal Democrat majority congress?

"this year the Democratic Minnesotan legislature passed a $4.18 billion transportation package including major money for maintenance, but Pawlenty vetoed it because he had taken a no-new-taxes pledge,"

I read an article saying that that particular Bridge was given the "needs repair" status as far back as 1991. So with that reasoning isn't Clinton more to blame?

Cuts funds???? Hell all I hear you guys complaining about is he spends too much. Why didn't the state fix the bridge back in the 90's? Were they waiting for the federal goverment to pay for it? Should be a state issue not a federal issue.

Thankyou Sealerman,
In tonights news, Sealerman conveniently left a out a paragraph in the story he quoted. Here is the missing paragraph:

"The more parsimonious bill which finally passed, tailored to meet Pawlenty's objections, was $3.8 billion for "status quo" on transportation, including $347.8 million for infrastructure support, and no real increases in funding across the board."

So you see folks, there were no cuts. Like always, the tax and spend crowd is just whining that they didn't get as large of an increase in funding as they would have liked. And... they are insinuating that that is a cut in funding.

I hear it is going to hot! Stay tuned for Sealermans weather update and how global warming is going to kill us all.

No Jimco. Apparently, the feds give "substantial" funds to support them, but the states build, own and maintain them. See here:

I'm fairly certain given the usual suspects that create the "political" topics, that they are not attempts to create discussion but only attempts at preaching CT gospel and indoctrination. When embarrassed with the facts they failed to look up prior to posting their rants or realizing their absurdity is being used against them then they just put you on their ignore list so they don't need to listen and can go back to preaching their nonsense without applying thought and reasoning.

But you are not very good at it so stop trying

Difference is I didn't censor anyone, I turned you off so I personally didn't waste time reading your worthless babble that just bumped the topic. Anyone else could read it and you could still post babble. I didn't prevent you from posting. I don't start these topics, only point out the obvious deficiencies.

I don't know about the bridge being Bush's fault but I do know that the state of CA requested emergency funds several times because we knew we were at risk for severe wildfires. Bush denied that funding, 1200 homes burned down, many of them were just one mile from my home.

I guess we should consider ourselves lucky, we didn't have our family members' dead bodies floating down the street...while Condoleeza was shoe shopping...

Doesn't CA prevent you from even making a fire barrier because your disturbing the wildlife or some BS like that. Like squirrels on fire don't disturb the wildlife. Plus I'm not sure the Federal government should spend my money on protecting homes of people who decided to build next to firewood? Seems like a state problem.

More midwest "common sense."

As Einstein once said, "Common Sense is the collection of prejudices acquired before age eighteen"

What's really funny is when people in Hurricane Alley are caught on the news standing outside their demolished trailer home saying "We're gonna rebuild as soon as we can"

Since the red states are sucking the blue states dry for federal funds, I think we should just cut you off.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/347.html

Next hurricane that hits and wipes out your double wide, we should just say "Sounds like a state problem to me!"

I think we've all had enough of the red state welfare queens complaining about where federal tax money is going...

I agree. The states have a better idea of what their individual problems and solutions should be. Common sense doesn't exist in California. At least not in it's politicians. I'll need to dig for the story but you had one area that banned any attempt at a fire barrier. People wanted to push away the dried out limbs, grass, other fire fuel from around their home. They were told they couldn't because it disturbed the little woodland creatures. One guy rented a bobcat and did it anyway. The whole neighborhood was destroyed and his house was left standing. He was looking at serious fines and even jail time. I think all the woodland creatures died in the fire. So if that's what you call common sense then I shouldn't be required to pay for it.
