Raven 50 gear train.
Have anybody stript anything in the gear train, like the main gear, doing hard 3D with a 50 motor like West 50H or OS50 Hyber?

Now I am thinking of using the max available power from my motor West 50H (2.5 - 2.8 HP), by turning up the Rev Max and the amount of nitro.

Haven't really stripped any gears doing 3D. Only time i had gears strip was doing 3D when i think the tail gears were damaged from a previous auto. Other than that i have had mine for over 2 years without striping gears.
One thing that has happened though was shearing the bolt that holds the main shaft to the main gear. I have done that twice now. Both happened when i did a really violent stall turn. When i stopped it extremely fast the engine reved way up and i just autoed it down. When they broke i was just being stupid.
I think its a good system and has worked well for me.

On my Hawk(stretched 30 size), I got to the point to where I was stripping out tail gears every 10 or so flights. I had never had a problem for the first 4 years I flew them but when I started doing rapid tail "pumps" and reversals the tail gears would strip out under the heavy changes in load. I think Century is selling the metal helical cut gear which ought to help with that problem.
