Broken tail rotor belt??
Have any of you had any problems breaking the tail rotor belt on you 50 titan. I broke a belt today and took a pretty good digger and am looking for cause/solutions.

I did once...
I had a belt break on my R50V2 not so long back. The heli had suffered a boom strike previously in the belt's life. The boom did not sever or crush on the belt so I never changed it.
Shortly before it broke, there was a small amount of ringing and belt contact with the boom.
These belts can stretch and if you hear this ringing (when the belt is not overly slack) it is most likely the tooth pitch of the stretched portion of the belt allowing the belt to jump a tooth intermittantly on the tail pulley. All the evidence pointed to this on my failure though I never recovered the belt. I use a Quick UK open tail box which allowed the belt to escape from the boom.
Without any doubt, this failure was caused by the belt stretching during the boomstrike.

1. How new was your belt?
2. What tension did you use?
3. Had the belt ever survived a crash?
4. Had the belt ever survived a boom strike?
5. Had the belt ever survived a tail/ground strike?

These would all be factors that would cause belt stretch...

It happens but there's usually a reason.

Make sure you loosen the horizontal fin when you tighten the belt. Otherwise it could tear up the frame idler pulleys. Also inspect it periodically for worn teeth and threads showing.

The belt has about 3 gallons of fuel through it, but I did have a problem with the boom loosening in the frame halves and loosing belt tension and jumping a tooth or two. I have that sorted out, but maybe it damaged the belt at that point. The belt looked good, but I did have a tail strike about 10 flights before this happened. No boom strikes, or other crashes. I am pretty new to this, maybe the belt tension was too tight.
