Could a faulty servo destroy the rest of the radio gear?
A friend of mine has just destroyed all his radio gear in his Swift apart from the receiver - 3 x ACE DS1015 a GY401, 9254 and a 80amp Jazz are all broken.

The model has had a few months use with no problems - He was using an Align 6amp BEC on a 2s LiPo and powered up the radio as usual, as he went to connect the main LiPo to the ESC when he noticed smoke coming from the 9254 on the tail (before he plugged in main pack) - he also had some smoke coming from the Jazz (which had the red wire removed from plug to disable the BEC). He didn't fly it and when he got home found every thing was dead.

His LHC have done the right thing and replaced everything apart form the Jazz, but put the blame on the ALign BEC, I have no idea if these units can do this and heard anything bad about them - as it is working fine now I'm not convinced it was the cause.

If the 9254 failed and shorted out, could this have shorted out everything else and blown it all? and does anyone know of a similar thing happening.

Cheers

Without having it infront of me its hard to say but I'd believe that something caused the servo to fry rather than the other way around.Andy
