CF Tail boom on 600N?
Any reason why I should NOT use a CF Tail boom on my 600N?

My heli's tail heavy even with my battery mounted as far forward as possible. I was thinking of changing the Alum. boom for a Carbon Fiber one but I wasn't sure if the CF would hold up well in the Nitro version.

it will hold it just as good on a nitro, but not sure if it would help in a tail heavy heli.

It does help a little.
A carbon push rod for the tail will help also.

I doubt it would make any difference, only being 8-10grammes lighter.

What RX batt are you using. ???

Sure why not! I just can't see if it's justifiable to buy a CF boom for any weight savings. I would just personally put a hold on it, and get it when the alum tail get twisted in a crash.

I'm using a 2Cell Lipo. I suppose I could use a heavier battery but I'd prefer to remove weight than to add. By the way, I've already removed the horizontal fin.

1. it's WAY more delicate than the stock boom and 2. in my experience it is much more difficult to stuff the torque tube bearing and rubber stopper into the carbon boom and 3. aluminum tail booms are 2 for $9.00! Stock for me on this piece.I was Spektrum when Spektrum wasn't cool

Thanks for reply guys. I think I'm going to give it a try anyway.

trex600crasher, here's how I easily installed the torque tube into the boom: I lightly lubed the "rubber stopper", then using the clear plastic tube that the torque tube was shipped in I pushed the stopper down the torque tube. That way the force is on the rubber stopper and not the torque tube or bearing.

I get the HeliDirect CF boom which is 19.99. It is still more expensive than the stock Al boom but I like the way it looks! It's just extra bling to me. NO real performance differences.Joe

I got talked into a CF tail boom for my X-Cell a few years back. I couldn't tell any difference until I crashed. The tail boom evaporated and spread my tail parts all over the prairie. At least with the Aluminum boom it all says together so you can clean up the mess and find any salvageable parts faster. If you don't crash then it doesn't matter.

I put the carbon boom on mine during the build. It looks great, gives the heli a more professional look. However, I too had problems getting the tail drive in the tube. May not be worth the hassle.

But it looks Cool!!!!

The red grease that comes with the kit makes it really hard to get the torque tube guides into the tail tube. Use a nice synthetic grease (like TriFlow) and they'll slide right in.

I agree, I ended up spraying a bunch of try flow in the tube to get it in.

Charlier, I don't think the weight difference is noticeable. I'm not into "bling". I'd feel more comfortable if the heli balanced out better.
