Setting up pitch
folks

What is the best way to setup exact pitch points without having to spin the main rotor.

I am used of nitro where you could just not run the engine and setup all your picth curves.

for example if i want 5 degree pitch at exactly hal stick how do i not let the motor run but still be able to do the measurement

Unplug at least two of the three motor wires from the ESC. That will disable the motor no matter what the ESC tries to do. Safer than using the throttle hold switch.Paul Goelz

Just pull the ESC plug from the throttle channel and plug in a 4.8 rx nicad you have lying around. Just take the motor out of the loop.Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Ok
Both Ideas look good. Will try either of those. Throttle hold sounds a little dangerous

Has the right Idea, It's what I started doing, I Burnt up a CC35 by unplugging the motor for an extended amount of time while fine tuning the pitch settings.

Unplug the ESC from your receiver.

Plug a normal, everyday, 4-cell nicad receiver pack into your receiver and use THAT to power the radio, you don't have to worry about the motor kicking in, and you don't have to worry about frying anything.

Throttle hold WON'T work, as you'll only be able to set the pitch curve for THAT mode.

Use throttle hold. Set the idle to 0 or whatever it takes in throttle hold so the motor won't run and set up a linear curve from 0 to 100. If you want to set up 5 degrees at mid stick for some reason just copy whatever curve you come up with in throttle hold over to the curve you want to use for flight. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
