dick smith,

My two cents worth: the main rotor disc is number one, the canopy is number two, and you need to be able to see the tail boom/tail to observe the tracking.

Good question Dick. I try to follow advice and watch the rotor disc, but it is very hard to see. Maybe if I had black blades, but the white ones are very hard to see against the sky. If I fly low, with the heli set against the grass in the background, it is much easier to see.

I try watching the skids, but I get confused which is near and which is far, and it is too easy to think the heli is tilted over when it is level...

Recently I bought a fancy painted canopy, to replace the plain white with a couple of stickers. It is certainly more visible, but not sure yet if it makes my flying any better.

Did that help? Probably not, I have the same question, these things are hard to track!

Just let your body give you the answer. The more you practice, the better answer you get. Look at me, I don't try to focus to anything, but I realize, most of the time, my eyes (automatically) watch the canopy and the tail.

I agree with oldboldpilot:rotor, canopy, tail. But itll soon come together without actually thinking about individual aspects of your concentration.

I have finally found you. Rotor, canopy and tail...and "dumb thumb" are what I watch out for.
