To my knowledge, all auto rotation "bearings" are sprague clutches... people call them different things but in reality, they are not bearings at all... they are one way "clutches"......they do no more than engage or disengage....

Some call them "Torrington bearings"..... Torrington is one of the companies that makes sprague clutches....

Hope that helps....

You might be on to something there. If the sleeve was a little on the small diameter side seems it might let the needles run up too far and distort the cage
That's exactly the point I'm trying to make........we know there is plenty of documentation to support the fact there is a problem.....

There has to be an answer.....

Sorry, I don't have one so I can't provide you with a measurement.... That doesn't mean that I can't use my brain to makes suggestions that might just help others in solving their problems....I surely hope you don't have any issues with that ?? .

Why don't you kick it off by providing the measurement on yours ???

My three older sleeves are the soft ones that got kinda notchy. They are all exactly 12.13 mm or 0.4775" consistantly. I am now using the new hard sleeves with no problem so I don't think it's the sleeves.Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.

Now we're getting somewhere.... if your sleeves got "notchy" as you say, that would explain why the sprague clutches were locking up.....

I never said it locked up. It did not even on 8s. Thats 4.5hp. They were softer and would wear or be damaged easily but did not lock up. That was never reported until the nitro as far as I know. That is my point. What is unique to the nitro that would cause this.Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.

The part numbers on my E are 60021 bearing and 60018 shaft. Are the nitro part numbers different?

Apparently there is a new part number for the sleeve:
There is a new sleeve #H60139 that replaces the 60018 sleeve
I think I'm going to order 2 of these for my 2 Nitros.

Do you guys think I need to replace the one-way at this point?

By the way, I think the next guy is # 24...

Do you think the sleeves could be too soft? When mine locks up you can't remove the main shaft so it is compressing the sleeve against the shaft. When the bearing is freed the shaft slides out easily.

Sorry about that... I "interpreted" your original post about the soft sleeves as causing your one-ways to lock up....

I don't know what is unique to one and not the other, that's why I suggested for folks to post some measurements....perhaps we will be able to see a correlation.....

Don't bother.... I already tried that and they measure exactly the same (11.97mm if I remember correctly) and have that same sloppy feeling on the bearing. I do think the problem is the tolerances between the sleeve and bearing though. When I rotate the main gear by hand and then reverse it to lock it, it rotates quite a bit before locking. I think the rollers are coming too far out of the bearing. Also, I've compared it to the gear on a 600E and the electric gear was much tighter.
