How about making some canopy windshield's with out the cooling hole. Maybe out of CF.

Some of the setups now run pretty cool and it sure would be nice to have a windshield without the hole. I think they would sell also

Sorry guys, not into scale right now...

I've been thinking ... How about a carbon frame conversion for the plastic Swift?
Main aim is to increase rigidity while maintaining weight.

Wait for Century?? Thats worst than waiting for a pot of water to boil using candle.

I've contacted an OEM Carbon fibre frame manufacturer and got him to produce an R&D swift carbon kit. Hopefully it'll work out and i'll post the build when I get it.

Cheers.

Sure; contact Ron Despins at RCGroups:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=27004

But its really a test kit and there will be some missing parts, so don't say I didn't warn you.

Here's some teaser pictures I got from Ron:

He built the frame based on a broken swift frame, so there may be a lot of adjustments. From another angle, the frame looks like it needs some work to get it right:

But the mechanics are all there, and I'm excited to get my hands on it! Shipping.. . oh the pain of waiting for the package to arrive!

Nope. Its designed as a direct replacement of the plastic frame, not an upgrade like the 550.
Its suppose to increase rigidity, without the weight.

Ron is a great guy and makes nice stuff, last time I was at his place he made me some nice custom fins and parts for my 3DX. I have a Swift on the way and hope to work with him to get this frame 100%. I will also want a driven tail so perhaps we can change this frame a bit so it can be added as an option.

Yup. Took it up for a spin early this morning, and it flew smooth. No vibrations. Really rigid.
I wanted to trash it about, but had my AP landing skids on. I'm regreting I turned this heli into an AP bird.

Real solid frame!
