Naked Notar
Thought I would post some pictures of my nearly ready to fly NOTAR. This is the one I bought from the moron that was all hacked up. Had to rip all the formers out and redo them but I think its finally ready to crash..er fly. I shortened the landing gear, I think the tall stance of how Vario shows it looks goofy. Plan on flying it will the canopy and doors etc off until it runs reliably. Probably going to be a pain in the a$$ to get it running right. Its a weber 75 and is super tight at the top of the cylinder, almost wont turn over. Thinking I may have to heat the head up a little and then start it.
Anyway thanks to the couple guys that gave me advice on getting this thing together. I will post some pics and maybe vid when I get her flying.

Thinking about painting it like this, this is the look I preferred as opposed to the tall landing gear.

looking good... That would be a nice paint job to choose for it.. Is your tail boom not installed totally yet? or is it slightly drooping? It could be an optical illusion from the angle of the pictures but it just looks a little low..

Keep up the good work on getting her done..

success!
Actually hovered the thing tonight, try and post a video tomorrow. Flies a lot better than I thought it might. Tail control is not really that bad, didn't seem much different than a normal TR. Only hovered for about 5 min though.

What have you done to me....

WOW, I have absolutely fallen for the notar military heli that you included a pic of above (love at first sight). Do you have any more details?? I would love to build this myself (Hope you dont mind!).

Do you know if Vario is the only producer of the NOTAR kit?

hey wheres the pics? Alot of posts lately are talkin pics that I cant see..WTF...

Great job ecoli! My 520N is still on the shelf, it will have a Webra 91 eng installed.
I had posted on another forum about putting a big honkin outrunner motor for the head and runnin a EDF for the tail.......Then I went and tied the knot, so not much spare time these days...

I'm Probably dreaming though, I bet the MD900 Notar would be better suited for a elec conversion.

As far as I know Vario is the only one that makes a notar. That camo heli is just the military version, dont know that much about it, just found the picture on the web.
Electric would be cool although this thing is not that noisy, pretty good muffler and I think the fuse attenuates some of the noise.
