Thinking about getting a Trex 450
hey guys i am thinking about getting a trex 450. i have 3 blade cps and i am tired of dealing with them. would a trex be a wise upgrade? i also have 3 raptors but would like a good electric heli to fly whene i dont feel like getting all the nitro sutff out. what would be a good setup for a rex? also would i be able to fly it with my JR XP8103? any help would be great thanks

are you kiddin'?

a cp is a can of natural light. a trex SE is a bottle of dom perignon. not even close. get the rex. outfit it with top notch components, and enjoy.

i'm flying HS-65MGs on cyclic; 9650/401 on the tail; FP2170s and TP2200exs for power. everything else stock in the box and it's a crazy little rocket for about 5 minutes on 13T.

i can tell the difference between the align carbons and the 325 woods. the carbons are just a lot smoother and noticeably quieter. but, for the money the woods are pretty darned capable even at those headspeeds.
if it ain't broke, break it.

You won't be disappointed with the T-Rex.

What's wrong with natural light, I can't afford Dom Perignon, I have RC-Heli's.

I started with a blade CP no sim! And learned how to fly
with it! Then I got an 450SE and was amazed how solid it
was and fly it every chance I get I fly the CP when I'm
waiting for trex parts....not too often

yeah i only fly the blades when my raptors are down. and when i do i just end up getting mad at it. i can fly the blade cp but it always seems like im fighting with it. the tail never seems to stay put no matter how much i adjust it. i could get a hh gyro but dont really feel like spending the money. i was just wondering what trex and electronics combo seems to be the most popular. i will probably end up selling my 3 blade cps and get a rex.

The servos and gyro cuda listed are the most common, In addition
to that if your not going to run the align ESC and motor I run
the jazz 40-6-18 ESC and Neu 1107y2 motor with the new
Air Thunder S3 2200mAh 25C packs, Insane power

For the amount of money you've spent on 3 BCPs and replacement parts, you could have gotten a 450 SE. A properly outfitted/set-up TRex 450 SE can outfly larger birds like a Raptor (30 and 50).Joe
We haven't seen Colonel Angus around these parts for years!

I started on a CX and transferred over to a Trex 450se. It flys like butt'a! Im not up on tansmitters but Im using a Futaba 6CHP or something so if its comparable to that or better it should work. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

As far as equip. goes, the stock motor and esc work fine for the 450. GY401 with a 9650 work awesome for me. Im flying 325 woddies and the longer flybar, I think its 290mm or something. HS65mg at least for rear cyclic and I use HBs on remaining two. Just keep and extra gear set or two for the HBs. Depending on what model you get (V-1, V-2) that should get ya. If you buy a V-1 then you should up grade the maingear to the dark blue upper and lower gears. Ive got a V-1 and upgraded my motor to the medusa 28-32-3400 for a little more punch. Some folks add a seperate BEC for there servos, that gives the servos a more constant power. Stick with a good battery company like Flightpower or Thunderpower. 2100 3s 11.4 volts or greater but stick with 3s unless you want to upgrade your ESC.

9 months with sim time too and no RC experience pior, doing flips, loops, airleron rolls with no problem. Also inverted hovers low. So low that I stuck it in the dirt yesterday but those things will happen! :-)

Buy a TREX and have fun!!
