Phoenix in widescreen
I have a 47" lcd hdtv but with Phoenix the picture is stretched.

Its a widescreen tv. Is there any way of adjusting the image so it is more realistic in widescreen rather than 'stretched to fit'? It seems phoenix is set to 4:3 and is perfect on my PC monitor.

I am using a HDMI to DVI cable and have an nvidea Geforce 7950 GX2 graphics card. The TV is 1080p.

I've tried on a Samsung 42" plasma without success..similiar issues.

My screen only offers the the stretched option or windowed. I wondered if it was actually a video card limitation? I'm running a Nvidea 6800 Ultra...

The other screen size options on the Plasma are greyed out when running the PC through it? Plus the PC res options seem unable to get round the problem. The colours are also not great either.

Thanks Barney. I had no issues with colour quality on mine. Anyone using it with a widescreen PC monitor found this problem?

I've had it in full 1080p on my Widescreen 42" Plasma running from a DVI to HDMI from my machine. I had to do some messing round with my graphics card (7900GT) as it has some specific TV settings in the advanced options. I actually prefer running it in 720p though as it just 'looks' and feels better.

As long as your machine is detecting your 'monitor' whether it be a tv or actual monitor correctly, you should be able to select the correct widescreen resolution from within Phoenix.

I'm using the latest beta 1.04f on a Samsung widescreen 1680x1050 22" monitor. It is connected via VGA not DVI.

It's working fine, no distortion, colors are fine.

Maybe it has something to do with non-square pixels? I know my 42" plasma was a pain to get working correctly in different video modes with my media center pc.

Thanks guys I will play around with the resolution settings in phoenix. The picture quality is perfect its just the stretched look of the models which looks wrong.

Try messing with the display settings. My friends laptop had a widescreen but the display settings were set for fullscreen so I set It to widescreen and I looked a lot better.

Works perfectly for me on both 24" Dell monitors at 1920x1200 and on the 65" PF9 plasma at 1920x1080P, both via DVI.

Does your control panel show the relevant resolution when the panel is plugged in?

You have to select a resolution with the same aspect ratio as your display(s).

So if your widescreen display is 16x9 aspect, your resolution has to match (e.g. 1365x768).

If you use a non-widescreen mode (like 1024x768) with widescreen display it will look strange.

This is all for fullscreen modes - with a windowed mode you dont have to worry.

Thanks guys I had the wrong resolution setting on the sim and the tv was stretching the image to fit. When set to the native resolution of the TV it is perfect. Now to talk my wife into letting me leave the PC in the living room...any tips??
