Problem -- Can Anyone Help
I've had my R50 Titan/Hyper 50 now for about 6 gallons of fuel. It's been great until a couple days ago. When I start it up the blades want to spin up almost like the clutch is sticking. I have to really hold on to the blades. The thing is that I can move the clutch bell, no binding on the clutch at all. When I come in and land with some speed on the blades the engine seems to race for a while almost like the clutch again is not letting go.

The thing is that I've had the motor and clutch out, checked all clearances and alignment, clutch liner wear, etc., etc. and everything looks ok.

Anyone have any ideas?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

The stock clutch is beat. Time to rplace it with a quik uk heavy duty one. ($25) The stock clutch is very weak and will do exactly what you are saying after a few gallons. I just replaced mine B/C it was doing the same thing, now it idles and the blades don't turn.

Had it happen on both of mine used the wrong loctite (gave out with heat) and the fan became slightly loose and worked its way ito the bottom of the clutch bell. At first i thought the clutch was wooped. Properly installed the fan with blue loctite now has 4 gallons thru it.

Also, the tolerances have to be pretty tight to begin with. If you replace the clutch always replace the liner at the same time. 2 wraps of electrical tape around the clutch will set the liner gap properly while your liner epoxy sets.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I replaced the clutch today with the stock 30/50 clutch and replaced the liner. We'll see how this one goes. The guy at the hobby shop thinks it may just be a buggered clutch right from the factory.
