Need some help with good physics
I am trying to mount a 40ft retractable telescopic pole to a camera tripod for AP. The tripod legs are also retractable with 1ft per segment up to 3ft and can make adjustable angle i.e. 30, 45 and 60 degree with the vertical.

What should be the most appropriate setup to secure the 40ft pole? If I need to attach some weights to the tripod that can make the base more secure, how much weights do I need to add?

40 ft, hu ? - - - forget the tripod.
For a 40 ft pole, telescoping or otherwise, to be self suporting by base anchoring only and still be rigid enough for a camera base, would be too heavy to be practical.

How about a tethered balloon ?

ham radio tower
There are quite a few different types of poles, and towers available to hams. Search for crank up or telescoping tower.

Ask BigGuyOz in RPV forum

He has a similar setup with tripod.

Easier to ask him than go over the formula for calculating base size and weight.
