My Solution For Invinivation Damper, Notchyness
So I finally installed my dampers this morning, and as people had posted, they were obviously not silky smooth, but not notchy, just tight. So, then I removed both of the shims, that go between the thrust bearing, and the radil bearing in the metal grip. Put them on, that was to much shimming removed, as I had some end play in my grips. So I put just 1 shim in....low and behold.....perfect. So if you think about it, we removed 1/2 of the total shimming in the head.

I measured the thickness of the shim, and it was .79, so agree that thats what we want our total shimming in the head to be? Agree? Yes, thats what I thought.

So I knew I had some Raptor 90 Spindle shims, laying around. I check the thickness of the shims, one is .41, the other is .43. So I install them, and as you may guess, the .43 shim, caused that grip to be tight. So I removed that shim, sanded it down to .41, installed it, and its silky smooth now!

5 bucks for 2 washers! HOLLY!!!

BTW, that's not the one you want, that one goes between the thrust bearing and the radial bearing in the grip.

Derek Thats what I was getting at, if someone could post the dimensions of the thrust washer, then we can see if those will work, all I know is that the spindle shims work, and of course, TT does not sell them

The dimensions that I know for the shim are .4mm in thickness, and ID of 8mm.

After some search and cross reference with the raptor 90 manual, I came up with the same PVO125 TT part number as well.

Yea and I dont know the dimensions on them, if I did I could see if they worked!

Like I said in my posts, and gave the part number, the SPINDLE shims work, im just not sure about the thrust washers.

I have a set of 90 grips here I need to find and measure the thrust washer.

standart align spacers (between grips and rotor hub) are 1.3mm thick

I tried 0.9mm (removing 0.8mm shiming from the head) and it was sloppy (had some endplay). I'm now looking for some 1mm spacers or even 1.1mm which would remove 0.6mm or 0.4mm shiming from the head.

Unfortunately finding a 12mm x 8mm x 1mm or 12mm x 8mm x 1.1mm shimm is proving to be dificult... any ideas?

Tony

EDIT: 1mm thickness is roughly .41 inches so I guess we are chasing the same thing... only diference is that you say your spacers are .79 which is 2mm and if you check the manual, they should be 1.3mm

Thanks for the tip. I managed to make some (a friend did) shim that is the size of the orginal shim in trex but with a thickness of .41mm. Slapped them on and grips are smooth as a baby's arse. Will try new dampners out on the next flight out.

I just solved my problem through a friend that was kind enough to give me some 1mm shims he had on his fury.

It seems the aditional 0.6mm in the head (original align spacer are 1.3mm on each side) was too much when using the metal grips. 1mm shims are the ticket!

My blade holders are butter smooth and no endplay!

Going to test the bird friday
