Futaba's new 9650 replacement servo...
Awesome!!!

I had wagging on my mini-T for over a month and after doing just about everything to get rid of it, it turns out to be a bad servo (HS81).

I bought a S9257 which is supposed to replace the 9650 and it does! Just amazing holding power (for beginner me anyway)! Fixed the wags and definitely a performer on the tail with the 401. Been waiting for the out of stock 9650 for over a month. This baby just arrived last week.

Cheers.

I second that. 9257 is probably the best tail servo for 400 class helis. It works perfectly with my JR G770T gyro too.

Speed : 0.08 Sec. / 60º degree at 4.8 V

Torque: 2.0 kg-cm at 4.8 V

Size: 35.5 X 15 X 28.6 mm

Weight: 26 g

I have this servo on my MT and it works great - it is the NEW 9650 for sure.

one of the reasons that I ask is I use the 9650 on throttles on nitros. I believe the 9650 had a 6v rating. On a gyro I would step it down, you think it would be ok for throttle?

I had the same wagging problem with bad servos...mostly after a crash. I am now on Hs81MG so it should be more crash resistance. Does the 9650 handle crashes well?

Why?
Does the 9650 handle crashes well?
No, the gears are made of cheese.

Definetely the best small tail servo.

Iv'e had six crashes with the 9650 since April when I got the Titan. Tail servo still working strong and my DS285s for that matter. It also depends on how you crash. I guess Iv'e been lucky maybe!

Looks like at 4.8 V the 3400G has more torque (~3Kg-cm compared to 2.0Kg-cm) but is slower (0.11 sec compared to 0.08).

If you run the 3400G at 6volts, its sooooo much better than the s9257. I've had both. My tail stops on the dime now comming out of piro turns.Killer Beam E4 450
