Blade lag? Help
Hi there guys

I've recently been messing about with my blades on the heli (QJ EP-8 with MS Composite 425mm), I have always run them tight in the grips where they were ok, but after a bit of reading on here I decided to try running them loose for a change, not really loose, but loose enough to hold position in the grips if the heli is tipped over and tapped. (both are the same tightness i.e. I can fold them both back together and the flybar stays put).

However, when I spool up, as soon as I apply any positive pitch they go out of phase and lead/lag, which then causes a violent shake.

Whats wrong? Are my dampers too soft?

Cheers if you can help
Ian

Don't know for sure, but it sounds like the head speed is too slow. The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

On an electric heli that could be due to not having soft start on your governor or by increasing throttle too quickly. When the head gets up too speed does the shake stop?

Cheers for the replies, yes its electric. The lag only happens as I apply positive after spool up, SteveH I'll try upping the throttle curve and try again, that sounds like it could be it, thanks.Warning...This hobby is very addictive and may damage your wealth

Oh dear

I increased my throttle curve, however this time after spoolup the head exploded as I added positive pitch.

Back to the drawing board...

Dorry to hear it, PDF. Maybe it was trying to tell you something by shaking when you aplied pitch. The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Hi there

No, nobody was hurt, except the heli, bent shaft, bent flybar, bent spindle, bent frame even, plus a load of other junked bits and bobs, it looked like someone had attacked the head with a food mixer.

More money...
