auto hubs
Quick question for people who have received their new 500 kits about the auto hub; Is the newer hub, Mik4067 the same hub as the older Mik2731? I've read that the only difference is the part number and that before the herringbone gears were out, guys were using the straight cut gears on their new hubs, so I assume they're backwards compatable.
I've been told they're the same, but I wanted to confirm it with guys who have their kits already. I've got a pile of pinions and gears that I'd like to utilize if possible to determine the best gear ratio for a setup I'm working on before the 0.7 mod herringbone gears are available. Thanks!

Hi Jon,

I am not 100% sure, but they look identical to me. OICU have also used the L10 200t gear on this hub so I guess its at least backwards compatable

The new auto hub has the pins inside reversed, therefore it is different. Yes the old style gears will work with them, however you can not use the old style auto hubs from the L10 and L14 on the new gears. If that all makes sense, lol........Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

upside down according to Esprit
I was told that the hub is identical by Esprit except for the bearing, so you could either press the bearing out and invert it, or make your heli left handed, i.e. rotate counter clockwise by flipping the levers, grips, etc.

Both options are too much work for my tastes so I'll just get the new one.

Shawn, do you mean that the old hub works with the old straight cut gears on the new model? Now I'm confused...

Yea they turned the auto hub upside down basically. No the old auto hub does not work the way it is with old gearing on the 500/600 you would have to switch the auto hub as mentioned, cheers....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...
