Questions in the title really, can a JR 810g Tail Servo be run on 6v for any length of time?

it's recommeded for 4.8V only by JR ... does not mean it "cannot", but I would not do it ...*** fly more ***

Most definately not recommended.... however... saying that... pop 2 diodes in series with the supply to the servo (1N4001 or 4005's should do) and these will drop the voltage down a bit for you.
