Rotary light on Long Ranger
Does anybody know if there's a rotary light on the Long Ranger? I haven't seen any pictures of the full scale having that.

You can order pretty much anything you want from Bell but standard equipment is red/green on the horizontal, a white on the end of the tail cone and a red strobe on the top and bottom. Some models had the top on the top of the fin, some behind the main shaft above the engine.Andy

like stated above, you can order pretty much anything from bell to customise the machine the company bought. but in all my years of seeing jet rangers and longrangers, i have never seen a rotating beacon on one. the millitary's 58's have sort of a beacon but it doesnt rotate, it just kind of gets bright and dim at a medium rate. now the beacons have been seen a lot on the hueys.drive a rotary, fly a rotorcraft

I don't think there is a real rotating beacon on any new heli. I think they are all done with LED arrays that mimic a rotating beacon. But people still tend to refer to them as rotating beacons. The beacon light for a long ranger is on top the verticle fin.

i have noticed that as well. one of the two EC145's that i had the chance to fly back when the army was doing the fly off had the zenon strobe type lights on the fin while the other had the led type. it didnt really flash, it just came on and then off. i still like the zenon type strobes over that. the huey, cobra and some old bell 47's have the actual rotating bulb under the lens, vario has a neat unit that simulate this very nicely with led's.drive a rotary, fly a rotorcraft
