Concept 30 Problems
I have a Concept 30 w/ a 401/9254 on the tail . Everything is setup correctly on the tail , but when I spool the head up and the heli gets light on the skids the gyro goes bonkers . It won't hold the tail it does nothing consistently just goes banannas I switched the gyro out of avcs mode to rate mode and the heli does exactly the same thing . So ....... I removed the gyro, servo,rx and tx and set everything up in one of my Trex 600's and the stuff performs flawlessly .DX7 tx AR7000 rx . I had this heli flying pretty well then the tail gear went to lunch , replaced the tail gear and ever since I cannot get the tail problem solved . I've played around w/ the gain percentages and nothing seems to matter. The only time I have full control of the tail is when the engine is not running or w/ the engine running up to about 1/4 throttle from there on it's out of control . Any ideas guys ????

Just a shot in the dark, have you tried switching the servo direction switch on the 401?

If your Concept flew fine before replacing the tail gear, I would check that your tail coupling set screw is tight and the drive wire is positioned properly between the front and rear couplings. Also check your tail pitch linkage for freedom of movement. Check your tail blade grips too. You did not remount your tail blades backward?Blades; what goes around, comes around!

The servo direction is correct . If I switch it then it will be correcting the wrong way . The drive wire is not slipping everything there is working and mounted proper . I talked with John at futaba today and he seems to think there is a vibration issue . If you're not living on the edge you're just taking up space !

Is the tail drive wire straight? Also, as I recall, the 3 drive wire supports in the boom shouldn't be evenly spaced to reduce vibration. Place the middle support closer to the rear of the boom.

The drive wire is straight , the wire guides are NOT spaced evenly apart . I'm gonna install another gyro in it tonight just to curb my dads thoughts . If I find the problem I will report back to you guys and let you know what's up .If you're not living on the edge you're just taking up space !

i think you may have a worn out clutch lining , mine did exactly the same thing. just enough clutch to spool up , not enough clutch to hold when loaded.

The drive wire needs a flat spot filed at the end or the rotor will slip but still turn.

Ok , so I feel like another round of aggravation tonight so out comes the old concept . I installed a new 401 and 9254 . Set everything up haul it outside and guess what , same **** !!!! I'm leaning towards a signal problem to the servo . As I start to spool the head up I have tail control until half throttle . From half throttle there is no stick control on the tail . Hmmmm , the HH light is still lit at this point so that's telling me the power is making it atleast to the gyro . Have any of you fellows ran into this before ?? I'm going to put another rx in tomorrow and see what that does mabe vibes are causing a bad signal to the tail ???If you're not living on the edge you're just taking up space !

Make sure you have no Rev mix turned on while using the gyro in HH mode.Blades; what goes around, comes around!
