I started with nitro helis and I used to say "The hell with that elecrtic crap" the batteries are to expensive, flight times are low, have to spend alot of money for chargers, balancers, adapters. I swore off electric until I flew a friends Trex 600, after that I just had to have one. I found out after awhile that my nitro birds had turned into shelf queens and I sold them. I stuck with electric for awhile until I started seeing the videos for the 600N. It was the latest and greatest and I had to have one of those too. But to be honest after flying it,I just liked my electric better, no nitro lag,no needles,no mess, thats the only reason. It is a great flying heli none the less. I may have not sworn off nitros forever mind you; I still have all of that nitro support gear tucked away in the back of my closet just in case...Its What I dont Say You Should Be Worried About...

I was flying a 450SE since November and was hesitating between a 600n or 600e...i finaly went with a nitro bird, a Freya 90 (a good offer i could'nt refuse...). It is completely different but i like it a lot. I still love my T-Rex and will never sell it. You prefer the plug and play machine and that's ok....airlectricalpheus!WWJD??

I noticed my 600n doesn't wet itself like most nitros do. It's a real treat not to have fuel all over the thing. I don't know why.. maybe it's the JK SB50.... who knows. All I know is I get very little fuel on my heli compared to any other nitro I've owned.Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep

"and am currently looking to get into nitro heli's,"

come talk to us after you've -dealt- with nitro heli's for oh, say about 10 years or so...you might have an actual opinion about it then, and perhaps understand why some seem to be 'religious' about the electric thing...

So it's 10 years before someone can have an 'actual' opinion?

No... polarized folks are bad for anything, including flying model rc helicopters.

Read the post(s) please; to have an opinion about nitros, one needs to -try- nitros, and after 10 years or so, one might get -sick- of nitros and have an opinion about nitros vs. electrics.

sheesh - have to explain everything

And dude, your comment about polarized folks is very polarized!

psamm....

Your the kind of guy, Im talking about.

And for you info.....

I have been in the RC hobby actively for 18 years. I have owned 15 nitro planes, 25 electric planes, 6 electric cars, 3 nitro cars, two gasoline airplanes and an electric heli.

I flew electric before electric was cool, or considered a viable option. Can motors and nicads where the norm and if you could spring for the good stuff it was an Astro Flight Cobalt.

So do I qualify for having an opinion in your eyes? What an asshole.

E vs G
I went to a 600N from my Trex V2, I couldn't justify watching lipo's charge for an hour and then get 5 minutes of flying. Was considering the 600E however charge time goes up even more and lipos are $270 per pack, OUCH! Now I get 10-13 minutes of rip roaring flight time, land, leave the motor running, take 30 seconds to refuel and back up I go. No Im not putting electric down, its just to expensive (lipos) and my time is very limited. I still fly electric for the fact i take off right outside of my front door of my house and have a blast, no noise to bother the neighbors,

Air Alpheus,

i have to agree, i also flew a raptor 30 v2 for about 8 months. in the end i got myself a 450 se electric and just love it. for me and engines just simply do not get on.

most of my crashes with my nitro heli where caused because the engine was not setup correctly.

i have now purchased a 600e (still to build) and also bought 2 packs for it from air thunder...

its nice to have a choice, because if electric never happened then i simply would have packed up...

saying all that there are alot of people at my club that fly the 600n and they say there's nothing better....

just my thoughts, its never simple...

Exactly the reason why I'm going to back to Nitro.. I've tried the e-heli thing (TREX 600 and LOGO 14) and while the power on the L14 is insane and I will miss it, I can do without the damn $400 batteries and relatively short flight times... Especially with the Trex. And the hot motors, and the charging in a bunker cause even though I'm careful the damn batteries have me scared sh@tless!

Buying my 600N next weekend. I'll probably keep the Logo for now, but I think I wan to sell off the 600E.

Electric vs Nitro
I have to agree...

I bought a 450SE which is great fun (like flying an angry wasp), but I can get 15-20 minutes on an Evo 50 Nitro, as opposed to 4-5 minutes on the 450 and Lipo's are a bit scary.

I've got a Bell 222 and pretty much resigned myself to running a flightpower lipo in that because 8 servos drains my nihm's before I get chance to get going.

Very tempted by the trex 600N, looks very crisp to fly.

How are you getting 15-20 minutes on an Evo 50 nitro? I assume that you have a standard sized fuel tank. If so, you might want to order an extra engine to keep on hand for when yours burns up from running too lean.www.louisianahelicam.com

Standard tank and no header tank. I'm not running lean at all, far from it. Not sure whether it's the zimmerman pipe that makes a difference but it fly's like a dream and super crisp.
