I Sold My 600N
After I flew 1 gallon of fuel through her I sold it. Its not that I didnt like the heli its just that I have gotten used to the instant power of the E-version and not having to carry all the nitro support equipment, wiping off the glow fuel mess,ETC. I am strictly sticking to electrics from now on. Dont let this hinder anyone that wants to purchase a 600N in the future it is a great flying heli, its just not my cup of tea anymore. So Long...

It's all a matter of preference. Glad to hear you found what makes you happy.

It's funny, a guy at my field did the opposite. Sold his 600e once he got his 600n.

He didn't like lugging the electric support equipment to the field, and the 'shot clock' effect from battery pack paranoia, cells going bad, pack cool down.

I'm with you, Air_Alpheus. I sold my last nitro 50 sized bird last week. I'm comfortable with the Trex-600 as well as dealing with large battery packs.

Oh you don't charge at the field? We do, so we lug a marine deep cycle, lipo chargers, and the packs of course.

We rotate 3 to 4 6S packs, but they have to cool down, recharge and all that. During the hot weather this takes a while.

Seems to be about even with the gallon of nitro, finish line wash, 2 paper towels, a starter and glow driver on volume. But that marine battery is a tank! Weight goes to the nitro setup.

I usually end up with 10 to 15 flights at the field, E or N. I am a switch hitter.

Cool that helps on one of the E issues.

I never charge at the field. I have 5 x TP5000's. I don't do back-to-back flying because there are other people at the field and we take turn. By the time I finish my 4th pack, it's half a day and I usually head home by then.

When I was on nitro, I flew about 4 to 5 flights at the field anyway, so that hasn't changed much for me.

That's about $1500.00 worth of lipo in my world. At ~$17.00 a gallon for Magnum 30% I can fly for a LONG time.

having said that, I have a Rex 600 too...

I got 3 5000 packs and 10 2200 packs for my 450 plus we have electricity at our field with a 50 amp power supply so if I wanted to charge at the field I can. I just like the electic better, I have owned Raptor 50 and 90s before I went to electric and never thought that the day would come when I would sell all my nitro birds for electric, but that day came for me. I am electric from now on. Until I hit the lottey and buy a turbine heli...
so what you getting a...................LOGO 10/500...
I have a Hurricane 550 on the workbench and Im waiting for the Trex 500...

I think the T-Rex 500 will be the ultimate size heli for chucking in the trunk when you go to work. I didn't care for the 450 size Rex. Maybe my eyes are just getting old... like the rest of me. "There's someone in my head, but it's not me..."

Can you smell the E versus N debate brewing? These seem to come up almost weekly. Way I see it, do what makes you happy and what is easiset for you. But for the love of god do not exagerate about how much crap you have to take to the field, how long blah blah. For me the E solution is the best solution, hence my tagline, be well.
However.....that being said for a winter flyer I may look at a 600N as my beater.

What about the poor folks with both?
We schlep it all, that's whats funny!

We all have the vehicles to pack it into though. Helps out the other guys that show up in a Jetta with 4 planes.

It's easy for me to stay objective, I chose both so I can get all the pluses from e and n!

Oh crap, and all the minuses.

This is what I look forward to doing. It's worth the schlepping for my friends and myself.

That'd be me too. Like has been said before; there are pro's and con's to each. I like them both for different reasons. I'd also like to have the unbelievable annoyance of having to pack jet fuel too.

I have both 600CF and a 600N. I only bought the 600N for longer flight times. On my 600CF I cant seem to get that massive power climb out like I see on videos, websites, etc.

I am running all stock 600CF with TP5000 lipos on a 10tooth pinion. I bought a 11 tooh but have not installed it yet due to the fact that I still have 2 align 4600 lipos. I know for a fact they will explode on a 11 tooth. They practically swell as is on a 5 min run.

I got the 600N.....people tell me with a proporly tuned os 50 hyper I can have super massive power.

Oh yea. I still waiting hyper engine so I have not flown the nitro yet.

No sir, can't smell a thing.
Way I see it, do what makes you happy and what is easiset for you.
Most folks probably see it that way.
But for the love of god do not exagerate about how much crap you have to take to the field, how long blah blah.
Who was exaggerating? Here's what I stuff in my Jeep every day trip:

600e
600n
450se
F27 Stryker Baby!!
2 toolboxes
Radio
Deep Cycle Marine Battery
Lipo Charger and Packs
Gallon or 2 of nitro.
Shade Tent and 4 chairs!! :P
Glow Driver/ Starter

Drinks and Food!

We wait about 20-30 mins to charge the 6s packs back at 1c or so when the temp is over 85f.

We fly everything all day! Sometimes fix crap all day, matters how the flying goes.
For me the E solution is the best solution, hence my tagline, be well.
Your tagline/autosig won't be correct for years. I should change mine to "Once upon a time, there was Nuclear Fission Power!"
However.....that being said for a winter flyer I may look at a 600N as my beater.
Welcome to switch hitting!

The ironic part of all of this, is that I live across the street from a mile square (at least) field. It's bigger than my club field, I stand in my front yard and go.

The irony! Truth be told, why do it alone when you can be with friends. I am ALWAYS the BEST when I fly alone though, meh would rather be the worst and learning/ooing and aahing.

Cheers

What gets me is how SOME (and Im not pointing any fingers here) electric guys wanna make it a religion and swear off all other types of fuel/power combinations.

To me thats like confining yourself to one flavor of drink for the rest of your life. I have already limited myself to one woman, why on earth would I want to do that with my hobby too?

I rather enjoy having all fuel sources available to me to play with. I run electrics and gasoline in my planes, and am currently looking to get into nitro heli's, then I will have all fuel sources except a jet, which will have to wait till either I get a big raise, hit the lotto or the kids move out, or all the above!
