Good point. It was just for a test.

All of a sudden you can't fly without 2.4 LOL

I'm looking at getting the Futaba module for my 12Z but I certainly am learning that it might not be a good idea to buy anything off the first production batch.

?? 14MZ been sitting and collecting dust since DX7 was released, no, I cannot fly FM since ím running high voltage helis (12s +) and no matter what you do I get glitching on 35mhz + being shot down once, its just not worth it.

So, im back to DX7 for the time being.

In that case I think you are doing the right thing. I presume you tried everything to eliminate the glitching. Even though the glitch source may not effect 2.4, anyone else flying in the vicinity not using 2.4 while you are flying could get hit??

I know what caused the glitches in my case, it was power to servo's interfering with receivers, among other stuff thats why futaba came out with a new 5114 receiver to replace the old one, however, it was only on 35Mhz, so it took a good while...
Simply put, the electronics inside the receiver wasnt shielded enough, and its only so far you can place a receiver from servos in certain machines.

However, a bad bearing should interfear with a 100 yards away, yeah, right

What servos are you using?

Also the new 5114 receiver has two modes. You want to use the least sensitive setting.

Yep, this was before the 5114.. (after I got the DX7 they recoginzed the problem and came out with the 5114)

Pretty much any servo, I could replicate it on a bench, so I sent them a nice video

Anyway gave up on 35mhz then and went with Dx7, havent had a single issue since then.

Never got the 5114 since I had already switched over all helis to Dx7/Spektrum.

Edit, Actually non of my normal hobby shop has the 35mhz version of 5114 yet, so I guess its barely out yet on 35mhz

Anyone know if this is going to cause problems on the 9C? Maybe I need to cancel my ever increasing backorder.

So there is a known latency issue and no resolution for it, or only a few people are expereincing it? This is really the only post that I have found on the Spectrum for MZ module and have heard a few bad things from people, would like a few more people to ding in on this that have the module. Can this be solved with a software update etc?

I did buy the module at IRCHA but will indeed return it to the vender and/or spectrum if there is an issue or dosen't work as advertised. I plan on getting the FUTABA module as well, but figured I would try this since the FUTABA module is delayed a bit from talking with the reps at IRCHA. Sounds like end of sept.

Thanks MEL, doing alittle reading over there and DL'ing the video now, sounds like alittle bit of a disapointment. Spectrum is going to have a huge inventory of returns it appears.

I want to take it out of the box to test it and see for myself, but I figure if I install it, either the company I bought it from or Spectrum won't honor a return if indeed there is a problem

Good video and really shows the problem well!

I have been flying the module in an airplane and have noticed another problem. It might be related in some way. If you turn everything on and watch closely you will notice there will be slight movements in all of the servos at seemingly random times... The movements are very small, but are definitely there. With digital servos, it is not necessary to watch as you can hear them growl as they move. One person reported his movements are about the same as 2 or 3 clicks of trim. Mine are not that much and are not noticeable in flight.

As I said, I have been flying it and will continue to do so but these are problems that Spektrum needs to address!

Later;

Well, as annoying as these issues are, in all defense to the manufacturer, this spectrum system worked very well at the ultimate
event, IRCHA.

It is too bad these 'little' problems spoil the complete enjoyment of this system. Otherwise it is great to fly without worrying about
frequency conflicts and glitches.

I am confident the manufacturer addresses these issues brought up here.

Cheers

Kay

Just an update post:

14MZ + Spektrum module + Cyclock = YES!

Since you dont send 3 channels at the time (using no mixing in the ratio) and instead doing the mixing on the heli, the system works very nice.

Sure, you will have to use a laptop to set the ccpm mixing correct, but you can use all other nice functions on the 14MZ.
