burn't 3 in 1? need help please
SORRY ABOUT THE LONG STORY
I was flying my cp pro w/ dd push on prop about 20 feet in the air when my prop flew off. I was able to land pretty softly I thought but when I put the prop back on and started it up it just spun out of control. After stopping it and unplugging it I smelled a burning sent. I plugged the battery back in after about 1-2 minutes all the servos were twitching so I unplugged it again. Later on when attempting again the main motor did nothing. Does this mean my 3 in 1 is burnt out or just my main motor. By the way my motor smells fine it is the 3 in 1. If my 3 in 1 is burnt out do I need another one or is there a way to do it cheaper if I want to go brushless.
Any feedback would be great thanks.

Sounds like the 3n1 is toast! If you buy another 3n1 you will spend around $45. Going brushless will cost that much for the Esc. Then, more for the motor. You will need the 3n1 for brushless unless you go separates. In this case you will need a second ESC for the tail. If your new to helis and learning, I’d just replace the 3n1. Get some more opinions though. Good luck!

Thanks Jojo. I was actually thinking of going brushless sooner or later I guess now would be a good time to do it. I was looking at other threads and thinking of using a thunderbird 18 esc w/ park 370 4100k any suggestions? Is it true that I still need my 3 in 1 even if I go brushless in the rear w/ esc, at least until I get a new transmitter and reciever. Thanks

If you go brushless main and brushless tail, then the only purpose for the 3-in-1 would be the gyro - hopefully, with an all brushless setup you are going with a HH gyro...

No need for a new 3-in-1. Just plug the brushless main ESC into your receiver, the brushless tail ESC into your HH gyro, and the HH gyro into your receiver.

Then start having fun with a solid heli, with lots of power, and motors that don't burn out!

One small caveat:

The tail ESC will have to be at low throttle to arm. With the stock receiver, you will probably have to hold the rudder control stick (left in NA) to the left to allow it to arm...

Thanks tutelar-rc I am using a g90 already so I guess I will just go all brushless with esc's and deal w/ the new remote later.
Thanks again

I was gonna do brushless tail decided against it bought belt driven Honeybee king V2. You can use your bladecpp radio and g90 buy the barebones kit for $60 and go brushless for another $40. This will give you a belt driven heli for $100 with brushless setup and a much stronger airframe and head.

otherwise visit this thread for going brushless with the cpp

heres a few pics of the HBK2.

Thanks tryan02 that does sound like a better deal. A couple of concerns are, is it to big to fly out in the front and back yard like the cpp.it looks a lot taller maybe better for holding electronics, because the cpp is kind of compact to say the least. Is it that hard to find parts for because I believe my lhs does not carry the new machine. How about weight will a brushless cpp w/ dd manuever better because of the weight. Thanks

To enjoy your hobby shop's Blade parts, you can get the Freestyle Belt Mod for the CP Pro. $120 for the all carbon option. The only thing that breaks in this tail is the boom. It uses 9mm arrow shafts so that will be easy to source. http://www.freestyle-hobby.com.Turn on a dime. Flip like a quarter. Feel like a million bucks.

size is an issue for my helis not me. I fly in my dining room when its windy out so I have to have a bird to fly inside I haven't got this one airborn yet hoping with belt tail and a little heavier bird it will be better for indoors than my cpp. Cant convince the wife I need more heli parts hard to believe after I just bought her a motorcycle. Any way heres a few pics of my honeybee and blade together its 1 or 2" taller other than that its less than an inch bigger all around. If I'm gonna fly indoors I'm sure you'll be ok in front yard.

checked out that belt tail nice mod. I was gonna rebuild my blade in my spare time was gonna do bl main and tail full seperates. but that may be a better option for it. I just hate dumping another $200 into it right now belt kit and BL setup for it. Sure would like to see horizon do something with the cpp there is no way anyone can enjoy flying the cpp right out of the box I'm rebuilding a friends stock tail and rate gyro 3&1 man that thing is annoying I remember why I went direct drive now.No Really I am the club President!!!

Thanks tryan02 and Gino for the great ideas but I think their is some more use left in this rear motor helicopter, especialy after watching 11 year old Kyle Stacey on you tube wow. So instead of going all out with a brushless tail, I decided to go with a park 370 4100k w/thunderbird 18 and a gws 300li esc for the brushed tail. So than I can hopefully get rid of the 3 in 1 and take full advantage of the g90 and dd tail so I've read. Plus if I do go with the King 2 or the cp pro replacement one day I will only be out the price of the rear esc (13 bucks) and possibly multiple gws motors for dd which my lhs just started carrying, assuming that eflight will try to counteract the kicka** king 2. And Zooman if you were asking me about the fuse mod the answer is no.

Oh, one more thing that weighed in on my decision tryan02. I was not ready to tell my wife I needed a new helicopter after just getting the cx2 in march and the cpp here in july. Wow I had no idea that this was such an addicting hobby. But the good news is I now have a wish list for christmas like I did 20 years ago.
