In Flight Blade Strike
I was testing my newly built TRex 450XL HDE by hovering (just 2 feet above ground) while adjusting the GY401 when a loud pop occured. Parts and blades were flying all over the place. I thought I struck something, but upon close inspection of the blades, there were no dents, just some scuff marks. The blades struck the horizontal stabiliser, then snapped off the rotor housing, the blade grips, and bent the tail boom. Any idea what just happened there? Thank you.

First thoughts that come to mind that could cause a boom strike are:
1) Bad dampeners
2) Blade bolts being loose, allowing the blades to pivot freely in flight

Loud pop
A pitch control rod may have popped off a blade .... nasty stuff happens then!

That's a deal Jim! I wrote the thread from a hotel room in Alabama, so you understand why I haven't called. I'll try to finish the heli this week and go see ya. Thanks!

I doubt it was a strike if you were just hovering. Seems more like a link popped.
